SOUPS ON…

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Every Sunday at Bible Baptist Church (Big Rapids, MI~~a shameless plug, I know) we have Sunday School at 10:00 AM.  Then we have our AM service at 11:00 AM.  At noon we all have lunch together there at the Church, fellowship, clean up and then have the PM service at 2:00 PM.  It’s fabulous!!

Since the Church has a refrigerator, microwave, sink and dishwasher, but no stove/oven, we all have to bring our hot dishes in in crock pots. It’s not a big deal, really.  Actually it’s convenient to keep your stuff hot in a crock pot.  My problem was bringing soup or stew or anything else that could slop around  and get all over everything!

A friend of mine brought one of these to Church…

Ain’t it perty?  I think so!!

So, when CSN Stores contacted me to do a review for them again, I went to one of their over 200+ stores looking for this fantastic gem.  And sure enough, they had one and it was the right price.  So I ordered it, got it and used it!!

This crock pot is awesome!!   It has these clamps on both sides and little hooks that they latch onto.  You simply put the latch over the hook, pull down on the clamp and it clamps the lid down.  The lid has a black rubber (I assume it’s rubber) gasket that goes all the way around it, so when clamped down it makes an air/water/soup tight seal!! =)

This last Sunday I man split pea and sausage SOUP!! Yes, I said SOUP!!  I really wanted to see if this baby would live up to my expectations.  Guess what??

NO LEAKS!!!  We live on a dirt road that isn’t smooth at all and there are so many bumps, I thought for sure it would leak some.  It.Didn’t.Leak.At.ALL.  It was amazing.  The High sitting got the soup nice and hot like it was supposed to and it turned out great….don’t think I’ll make that soup again (it wasn’t my favorite) but I’ll definitely use the crock pot again!!!

I give this Crock Pot ♥♥♥♥ (4 hearts)!!!

(since I don’t have stars on my character thingy, I will use hearts for rating on my reviews…1 heart being very poor, 2 hearts being poor, 3 hearts being average, 4 hearts being good and 5  hearts being very good).

The only thing that I would change on this is I would give it Cool Touch sides, this baby gets HOT!!!!

Thanks to CSNStores for, once again, hooking me up with a great product!!! =)

The time has come…

Buster and I bought our mattress like 14 years ago, and let me tell you, it’s time to get a new one!!!  I’d like to not only get a mattress but also headboard and  foot board set…we have never had a nice one and I think it’s about time.

I am seriously thinking about having Buster and his friend J. make it themselves.  They have the knowledge and skills to do it!! So all I would need to buy is the mattress set.  That would save us some money and give the guys a project (like they don’t have enough to do around here, LOL)

Actually now that I am thinking about it, I think I should have them make a whole bedroom set, night stands and all!!  Maybe I won’t press my luck, keep it simple….for now ;)

No shoes for me =(

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

OK, so I am not having any luck with reviewing a pair of shoes!!!  I have small but quite chubby feet and I am having a hard time finding shoes wide enough without getting “old lady shoes” LOL.  No offense to those ladies who are older!!

The folks at CSNStores.com have been great.  They shipped both pairs of shoes I wanted to me for free and also let me send them back for free!! They have been very patient and helpful!! I just can’t buy the dressy, high-heel type shoes without trying them on first, and the peeps over at CSN Stores have been patient enough already, so I am going to try something else!!!  Stay tuned to see what it is!!

Have you seen the deals on buy.com??

Monday, August 16th, 2010

I have been wanting to get a small laptop for some time now.  One I can access e-mail or my Facebook page from. One that doesn’t take up my whole lap, because, just cause their called a laptop, well…you can see where I am going with that!!!  Price is also a sticking point for me.  I want something affordable!!

Well, I have to look no further than buy.com.  They have a great deal on an “eMachines Netbook” that has all the bells and whistles I want and for a great low price.  It even has Microsoft 7 on it!!!  And it’s refurbished, which is sometimes better than brand new because all the problems it may have had, have been worked out and it has to be in superb working order for them to “resell” an item as refurbished!  I’m thinking, maybe an early Christmas present…or Anniversary present…

A few of my hubby’s favorite things!! =)

Buster is really into knives,  multi-tools and flashlights.  He insists on “collecting” them in all different sizes , shapes and colors.  Big ones, little ones, black ones, yellow ones.  And that’s just the flashlights!!! Multi-tools come with all kinds of different gadgets.  From screwdrivers to bottle openers, they’ve got it all!!

Buster really likes led flashlights.  The bulbs last like forever and they don’t drain a battery as fast, at least that’s what he says…And they come in all sizes and colors, even in lanterns.  Take him to a store where they have a large section of these, and he is one happy camper!!

A little “Thank You” goes a long way…

Someone asked me whether or not you have to buy your wedding party gifts.  Like if you are short on money and can’t really afford it.  I think it’s always a good idea to get your wedding party something.  It doesn’t have to be really extravagant or expensive, but a small token of thanks is always appropriate.  They can be personal gifts for each person or they can be a general gift that would be appropriate for all of them.

For instance, some groomsmen gifts might include, money clips, flasks, tie tacks, or multi-tools.  Some bridesmaid gifts might include charm bracelets, a manicure set, a monogrammed tote, or matching jewelry (for the wedding) that they can keep after the wedding.  Buster and I bought matching jewelry for the girls and tie-tacks for the guys.  We didn’t have tons of money (still don’t) so we didn’t go real expensive, but it’s the sentiment that matters, not the cost!!

I love my “job”…

Buster and I have been drooling over looking at some  bedroom furniture sets, as we have never had a “real” one.  When we bought our first house, it came partially furnished with some cheap furniture, which included a headboard and dresser set that matched, but it wasn’t anything that was really nice.  Soon after, we bought a king size bed and the headboard didn’t fit it, so we have been about 12 years or so without one.  Which isn’t really a big deal, but I would really like to get a nice matching set.

CSNStores is making it really easy for me to find stuff I like and get it for a reasonable price.  They have given me the opportunity to pick something out from any one of their 200+ stores, order it and review it here on my blog.   It’s really been awesome…You remember my Fondue Set and my Cookie Sheet, don’t you?? Those are mine thanks to the fine folks over at CSN Stores!!! I love my “job”!!!

Come on back in a few days when I will be posting a review on these.  My Pastor’s wife wears Aerosoles all the time and is always telling me how comfortable they are, so I am going to try them out.  I have been trying to find a pair of sandals that have heels but are still comfortable, but haven’t had much luck thus far.   I am so excited!! I can’t wait to share with you what I think of these beauties….

Dream a Little Dream…

Friday, July 30th, 2010

The cell phone provider we use recently merged with another.  The iPhone is supported by this other company, while the one we have is not.  So, I was trying to convince Buster that we need a new iPhone because, well just because we can now (if we could afford it, that is, which we can’t).

He wasn’t convinced…

A friend of mine had one and she loved it, in fact, I think she recently went back to one.  I just think they are cool because you can get so many iphone accessories and apps for them.  Everything from news apps to an app that helps you time your contractions, during labor.  It’s crazy what they can do with these things!!

Well, a girl can dream, can’t she?? =)

My Little Business…

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

In an attempt to make some money from “home”, I started my own AVON business a couple years ago.  I wanted to really get involved in the company and make some money while making women feel good about the way they looked.

I did my homework on how to get more exposure and get more clientele.  I decided one good way to get my name out there was to look into my color printing options.  I eventually had some business cards made and some magnets the ladies could put on their fridges so my name and number would be handy.  It would have been nice to get some pens and maybe some stationary or something, but the point was to make money not spend it all on advertising!! =)

It was nice while it lasted.  I was spending more than I was making in the end, so I stopped selling AND buying…but I did enjoy myself for the 6 months or so that I was a Rep.    I should have done more homework on how to deal with a failing economy and gotten more involved with the meetings and all that, but who has the time.  Oh well, like I said, it was nice while it lasted….

“Book” Smarts…

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Buster and I moved into a house last year that is 1/3 the size of our previous house.  Needless to say we are having quite a time finding room for all our things.  One thing we really don’t want to get rid of , but may not have a choice about is books.  We had an extra room in our old house where we kept all the books on bookshelves.  We no longer have an extra room for ANYTHING!!

Some of our books are probably worth some money if we can find the right venue to sell them.  I recently found out you can sell used books online!!  The best part of that is, that you can recoup most of your money when you sell them that way, and you can sell your books night or day, every day since it’s online and always “open”.  You can even sell your used textbooks, which is good for those who can’t afford new or just don’t want to pay full price for them!!
