Pumpkin_seed got to play in her first official Volleyball game Tuesday night.  She has only really had problems with serving.  Everything else she is pretty good at.  She served 3 times that night and made it over the net twice!!  They play up to 5 sets (best 3 of 5).  Each set except the last goes to 25 points.  The deciding set only goes to 15, and each set they have to win by 2 points.  Well, it started off kinda scary!!  They lost.  But then they won.  Then they lost again.  Then finally, they won the last 2 sets!!  So, they won the overall game!!!  WAHOO!!! I am so proud of my Pumpkin_seed!!!

Talk About Tuesday~~What I saw on GMA!!!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Just so you all know, this is not a paid post or review!!  I just happened to see  this on Good Morning America this morning.  Actually, I was trying to decide what I wanted to do my Talk About Tuesday  post about today and then I saw it….right on my television!!

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, finally listened to the public and started a campaign to change the packaging on toys they sell.  You know, the packages that you have to have a chain saw or a jack hammer to get into.  I don’t know how many times I have sliced myself open trying to get a package open.  Everything from batteries to Barbies is packaged in that hard plastic that you have to have a 25 year college degree to get into without hurting yourself or someone else!  UUUGGHHH!!

Well, have you won’t have to put up with it to much longer.  Some products, from what I hear have already been packaged differently.  Jeff says they are starting with the most popular items first and working their way down to all products sold!!  WWOOOHHOOO I will no longer dread opening gifts!!

Happy Birthday to My Darling H

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I am the proud Mama of a 12 year-old!!!! I can’t believe it’s been that long!! She has grown up so fast!! I couldn’t be more proud of the “little lady” she is becoming!! She is still scrawny, but she is getting taller!! She’ll be taller than me in no time (course, that doesn’t take much, but….). I love her so much, I can’t put it into words, but I wanted to tel her something today…I’ll let her read this later….

To my darling 12 year old. I fell in love with you when I was three months pregnant with you. I hadn’t even laid eyes on you yet. Didn’t even know for sure if you were a girl or a boy. But I had a feeling you were a girl. MY girl. I thought of all the things we would do together. How I would braid your hair and teach you how to sit, talk, and act like a lady. I thought about dressing you up in ribbons and ruffles, all in pink, how we would have tea parties with your dolls and stuffed animals. How someday you would go to school and how proud I would be, and I was.

I thought about how you would eventually like boys and what I would tell you when you did. Well, things have changed a lot since then and you do like boys!! Well, just one that I know of. I know you smile whenever you say his name and I know are excited to think that he might like you, too. You have the rest of your life to enjoy these things, please don’t be in a hurry to grow up. You only get to be a child once and only for a short time. I know it seems like it takes for ever to be a grown up and there are rules and chores and school and it seems like a lot, but you wait, one day you will wish for the days when you were a kid!! Just remember, my sweet girl, if he’s right for you it will happen in God’s time.

Remember that you can always talk to me about anything no matter what!! I will always be your biggest fan and nothing you could say or do will ever change that. Please remember that Daddy and I make rules to keep you safe from harm and to keep you happy in the long run. Remember your purity (mind, body and soul) should be held close and dear to you. Besides your salvation it is your most treasured “possession” at this point in your life. Keep It!! Now , go out there with God’s grace and show the world what you’re made of!! I love you today, tomorrow, and always!!! Happy Birthday sweety, Hugs and Prayers… Love Mommy…

JACK (3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister. After a while he asked: “Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk?”

MELANIE (5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn’t remember any more. Said Melanie, “If you don’t remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.”

STEVEN (3) hugged and kissed his Mom goodnight. “I love you so much, that when you die I’m going to bury you outside my bedroom window.”

BRITTANY (4) had an earache and wanted a painkiller. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a childproof cap and she’d have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: “How does it know it’s me?

SUSAN (4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. “Please don’t give me this juice again,” she said, “It makes my teeth cough.”

DANI (4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: “How much do I cost?”

MARC (4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: “Why is he whispering in her mouth?”

CLINTON (5) was in his bedroom looking worried. When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, “I don’t know what’ll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in?

JAMES (4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: “The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.” Concerned, James asked: “What happened to the flea?”

TAMMY (4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, “Why doesn’t your skin fit your face?”

THE SERMON

I think this Mom will never forget this particular Sunday sermon…

“Dear Lord,” the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face.

“Without you, we are but dust.” He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter (who was listening!) leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice,

“Mom, what is butt dust?”
