At a loss…
Posted on June 06, 2011For those of you who know me, you know this is something odd…that I would not know what to say…
It’s not so much that I don’t know what to say, so mush as I don’t want to say too much or say the wrong thing.
Just know that there is a lot going on with me right now. I need some prayer, please. Some of what is going on is not going on “with” me, and doesn’t even really directly affect me, but it shakes me to the core that the devil is attacking so “close to home”.
And the other stuff I’m going through is going on “with” me, but I am in prayer about it and I am seeking God’s guidance and His will in this situation, which is always hard because as a human being, I rely too much on my feelings and emotions…Of course, I never want to do anything that will cause anyone pain, especially my family and myself.
Please friends, keep your loved ones close to you, tell them and show them you love them every chance you get. Be slow to anger and quick to forgive, for we are not promised a tomorrow to try again!!!

Blessings…
Posted on May 19, 2011I do realize that doing dishes isn’t normally considered a blessing, but I also realize that being able to do dishes is…
As most of you know, I have been “under the weather”, so to speak for a couple of months now. It all started with slip and fall in the tub and kinda went south from there, unfortunately.
At one point doctor’s were saying there seemed to be evidence of an old stroke or possibly seizure activity according to some results of a CT scan. Well, that ended up not being the case , Praise The Lord! But they did determine that I have a cyst (app. 1″ x 1″) on my brain. It does not appear to be causing any problems, so they are going to leave it be.
But now we are left to wonder what the problem actually is…
I continue to have major migraines (which isn’t a new thing) and passing out occasionally (which is new since the slip and fall). We are told that IF the passing out is from the concussion I go when I fell, it will stop on it’s own eventually.
If it’s not from that then we will have to figure out what it is from and try to treat it accordingly. The Dr. didn’t really say how long we should wait, so I’m not sure what to do there, but I will be checking with my regular soon to see.
At one point, my regular Dr. was going to have me do a cardiac monitor and I think that’s probably my next step.
So back to my original thoughts…I have been having good days and bad (seems mostly bad lately, unfortunately) and some days it’s a struggle just to be up and out of bed. And, some days I can get simple things done like cleaning toilets, folding laundry and doing dishes. Today started out rough with a migraine, but has gotten better so, as I was washing dishes today, I looked up and saw this out my window…
…and thought “What a blessing to be here and be able to do my dishes today”.
Spring is my favorite time of year, to me, it represents a rebirth of things and a new start…which we can all use now and then…
Home…
Posted on May 18, 2011For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, it takes a lot more than having the biggest, bestest, most high tech house on the block to make a house a home. It takes a lot more than fancy shower curtains and pretty nick knacks too!!
Some people just don’t get it. It doesn’t matter if you have all the latest home furnishings and high tech gadgets like the ones you see on Home Makeover and other shows on TV, but if you don’t have love and security, you’ve got nothing!!!
You can have the biggest house on the block with the fanciest things in it and if you don’t have love and commitment and trust, you may as well have a cardboard box. When will people learn this important fact?
“Things” are not evil or bad in and of themselves, but when we place the importance on these that we should have on our relationships with our families and with God, we are setting ourselves up for major disappointment!!
Just had to get that off my chest…
Genesis 4
Posted on April 29, 2011Genesis 4:1 “….I have gotten a man from the Lord.” What a thought.
Do we realize that our children truly are a gift from God?? I don’t think we appreciate that fact enough!!
Through all the pains of labor, the early morning feedings, the “terrible twos”, those trying times of preadolescence , all the way through those awkward teenage years. We should keep in mind that our children are in fact A GIFT from God!!
I think I will remind myself of that the next time I want to throttle “the girl” for being sassy or not cleaning her room!! Because she truly is a gift from God, truly!!
Please remember to be thankful for every second you have with your children. I have always been thankful for the time I have had with mine. My son was taken to heaven at the age of 10, and though I have never been a perfect parent (never will be), I have never had to think to myself , “I wish I would have said I love you more”, or “I hope he knew I loved him”. Praise the Lord for that!!
Today, take a moment to let your children know that you love them and what a blessing they really are, even when they are driving you to drink and/or go bald or gray or both!!!
There really is a “Hell” and it’s HOT!!
Posted on April 18, 2011Why is it so hard for people to believe that a loving God would allow people to go to hell??
Think about it…God sent His PERFECT son, whom he loved more than anything, to suffer and die a cruel death, so that we could have a home in heaven.
Why is it so hard to believe that he would allow people who are NOT PERFECT to go to hell for denying Him and not accepting the PERFECT Son He sent here to die for them??
My pastor made mention of this while preaching yesterday and it makes a lot of sense when you think about it!!!
Mother’s Day…
Posted on March 18, 2011Takin’ a little poll here…
All my regulars (all three of you, lol), throw me a bone and participate mmmmkk??
How many of you prefer flowers for mothers day?
Would you rather get a box of chocolates or flowers?
Would you rather get a piece of jewelry or flowers?
Would you rather get a gift card to your favorite store or flowers?
I love to get flowers, but they die…I can think of a bunch of other things I would rather get for Mother’s Day or any other occasion for that matter…
Here are a few (in case my hubby reads this)…
-
a pendant for my white gold chain
-
a mother’s ring
-
a gift card to Fashion Bug or Marshall’s to pick out shoes or a handbag or something
-
a nice dinner out with my family
-
smaller diamond earrings for my second hole
Don’t get me wrong, I do like getting flowers, but I would rather get like maybe a small bouquet or a single flower and then something else, too!!!

Love…
Posted on March 14, 2011I am ashamed to admit that I got totally sucked into this seasons “The Bachelor”. I know it’s not realistic and it’s probably emotionally and mentally damaging to everyone, but it’s like a bad train wreck~~it’s horrific, but I just can’t look away.
I kind of look at free online dating similarly. I mean, how can you really get to know someone online?? I guess ultimately you do get to know the “real” person, but I don’t know. I’m glad I don’t have to worry about dating since I already have the man of my dreams, but I wonder what it’s like these days…
Tell me, would you ever consider online dating??

Mr. Right
Posted on March 02, 2011My husband left this comment on a post of mine the other day…
Actually I have lived with you the longest and I think I know you the best. I have seen you overcome more than any one person should have to go through, and you continue to move forward. Some people (family and friends) have treated you differently because they want what you have got and can’t achieve that. They treat you bad because it makes them feel superior and in control. You have grown spiritually and “psychologically” so much since I have known you and I am proud of you. All the pressures and fires you have gone through in your life have made you the diamond you are today. Without them and the choices you made, you wouldn’t be where you are today, and I think that is right where God wants you to be serving HIM. I LOVE you and I will continue standing by your side until death do us part. Love you (MORE(infinity)).
My response to this is…
If it weren’t for you and God, I would have ended up in jail or dead. For realz. I was headed no where good….and fast.
I knew that my life was at a dead end when I left home that day almost 20 years ago. I knew that if I didn’t get out then, there would be no getting out. I felt it to my core.
I’m not saying my “parents” would have killed me. I am saying that I would have either tried to kill myself again (and again) until I succeeded or I would have landed myself in jail because of other bad choices. I was not in a good place, mentally, or otherwise and I was spiralling out of control.
Buster, you were my rock. You and the Lord were all that I had to hold onto. And I wasn’t very strong in my faith back then, so mostly I was holding onto you. But the Lord gave you to me, so there ya go…I love you today and always….you are my Mr. Right!!!
Thank you for always being here for me.
Thank you for loving me when I am unlovable.
Thank you for standing up for me when I can’t stand up for myself.
Thank you for being a wonderful father to our children.
Thank You!!
Back To The Spanking Discussion…
Posted on February 17, 2011Why is it that people are so against biblical discipline? The Bible says some very direct things about spanking children to correct them. I think if more people took their parenting advice from the Bible and/or godly counsel, we would have a lot less problems with our kids today…
(Proverbs 13:24, 22:15, 23:13-14, 29:15)
Children who are not disciplined in the correct manner more often than not, turn out to be rebellious, having no respect for authority and since they cannot submit to their “earthly” authority, they often have difficulty submitting to their ultimate authority, God.
Someone recently made a comment about adults (spouses) being brought up on charges for such behavior…PLEASE!! Spanking a child and physically abusing your spouse are two very different things!!! And spanking your child should be very different than physically abusing them!!! Also it was said that spanking creates anger and anger gets in the way of learning…both my children were spanked as young children and both of them are very well behaved and very smart so I’m not sure that is accurate.
Let me make it clear that I do not think a teacher should be allowed to spank a child, especially in a public school! But I think it’s every parent’s God given right to spank their child.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, if done CORRECTLY this can be a very effective way of correcting unwanted/bad behaviour. If done incorrectly, it can lead to a bad attitude, anger and disrespect. Spanking should never be done as way to vent or take out frustration.
Here is something I read online and I agree with whole-heartedly …”Discipline is used to correct and train people to go in the right way. No discipline is pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it” (Hebrews 12:11)
”God’s discipline is loving, as should it be between parent and child. Physical discipline should never be used to cause lasting physical harm or pain. Physical punishment should always be followed immediately by comforting the child with assurance that he/she is loved. These moments are the perfect time to teach a child that God disciplines us because He loves us and that, as parents, we do the same for our children.”
Now, that being said… other forms of discipline, such as “time-outs,” can be used instead of physical discipline. Parents often find that their children do not respond well to spankings . Some parents find that “time-outs,” grounding, and/or taking something away from the child can be more effective in encouraging behavioral change. If that is the case, a parent should employ the best methods for the needed behavioral change. While the Bible undeniably advocates spanking, I think God is more concerned with the goal of building godly character than the particular method used.
I asked my daughter if she thought she or her brother were abused in any way (they were both spanked when needed when young children) and she said no way. I asked her if she thought she would spank her kids if and when she has them and she said absolutely, no question. My son wrote letters to me, Buster and Pumpkin_seed the night before he died (he was 10 when he was killed in an auto-accident) and he actually thanked Buster for spanking him when he needed it!!! A 10 year old boy said that!! I think that says it all right there…he didn’t feel angry or upset or abused, he was THANKFUL!!!
