DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE HEAVEN WILL BE YOUR HOME??

We “preach” at our kids all day long about making the right choices and decisions for themselves, but are we sure we have told them about the most important decision they could ever make?  Have we told them they can know for sure that they can go to heaven someday when they die?  Some of you may not know that yourselves, I realize that.  BUT YOU CAN KNOW…there are just a few things you need to do in order to know that!!  The actual work has already been done, but you must accept what has been done!!  Let me show you…

  • First, you must realize that God loves you. ~ John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in Him should not perish , but have everlasting life. Whosoever means anyone and everyone who believes!!
  • Secondly, you must realize that everyone is a sinner. ~ Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” All means every single person!!
  • Thirdly, you must realize that sin has a price that must be paid. ~ Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” When you have a job, you earn a wage (money)…when you sin you earn a wage (death or separation from God in hell) .
  • Fourthly, you must realize that Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead to pay your sin debt for you. ~ Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • Finally, you must pray, ask Jesus Christ to be your Saviour, and claim His promise of eternal life. ~ Romans 10:9, 13 “Thas if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised  Him form the dead, thou shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you or anyone you know isn’t sure they would go to heaven when they die, please read/share this important information with them.  I know it can be a daunting task, but isn’t it worth it to be secure in where you/they will spend eternity? Because, hey , we WILL ALL have to spend eternity SOMEWHERE!! I prefer HEAVEN!!

Is insurance mandatory at your college??

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

If you have been around long at all, you have come to the realization that I blog about everything and anything!!!  If you can go on and on and on write/talk about it, I probably have!!  And probably even a few things you can’t/shouldn’t!! =)

Jut like today, I am gonna tell you about how easy it is to get affordable health coverage in!! Albeit, NC short term health insurance.  Still the same, it is affordable insurance!!  Actually it is for students who aren’t covered under a parent’s plan anymore or students who attend school out of their home State.  Did you know some schools make it mandatory to have insurance??? WOW!!

GGRR…

Is it just me or does anyone else hate those new hand dryers in the bathrooms in the newer restaurants and/or stores??? They are so annoying, because they are automatic and if you don’t move your hands fast enough for long enough, they turn off on you.  That really irks me!!!

GGRRR…

You can’t dry your hands off as fast if you move your hands too fast, you have to let the air blow on them for a little bit, move them, blow a little more, move them….you get the idea…so it’s really annoying when all the sudden the thing just turns off!!! OK, I’m done complaining, for now.

Men, you might wanna skip this post…just sayin’ LOL

So, for about a week now I have been sick…no, not really sick, just OFF.  I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why… This weird pressure in my head, then headaches, night sweats, sweating out of the blue during the day, nausea, fatigue, sleeplessness, the list goes on and on. And that’s not all…

Then last night I really didn’t feel good and I thought I had a fever, so I took my temperature.  The thermometer said 103 degrees.  I thought that wasn’t right so I took it again, right away.  Then it said I had a temperature of 99.1.  I thought that was strange.  Buster told me to take some Tylenol and lay down, so I did.  I thought I was coming down with something.

About an hour later, exhausted, I went to bed only to not be able to get comfortable and not sleep. Then when I finally did fall asleep for a couple hours, I woke up around 4 drenched with sweat and freezing!!  Then I tried and failed to get comfortable some more til I finally fell back to sleep, covering myself up with the sheet and taking it off again as I went from freezing to overheating several times…Then this morning I was laying in bed feeling not very rested and it came to me….MENOPAUSE!!!!!  What was happening last night were extreme HOT FLASHES!!!!  I have had them before, but never like this!!

I had a radical (they took EVERYTHING) hysterectomy three years ago and I think it’s finally catching up to me.  See your body converts fat cells into estrogen so us “big girls” tend to store up estrogen longer than those who are not as “fluffy”.  So all the symptoms I have been having…night sweats, extreme hot flashes, pressure in my head, fatigue, sleeplessness (ironic, huh??), headaches, body aches, dizziness, nausea, the whole works is stinking menopause.  I should have known.  I figured if I hadn’t had much problems by now, I wouldn’t.  HA!!!

My next problem is, I don’t want to take anything that isn’t natural, but that’s all my insurance will pay for, is something I can get from my doctor….I have progesterone cream, but it won’t take care of everything, so I’m not sure what to do.  Any suggestions??

AND, I just read that this can go on from 1-10 years!!!! UGH!! Pray for me please!!!

Papa and Grandma…

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

The camp director’s mom and dad (grandma and papa) live here at camp most of the time now. The cabin they built them this last year is quite a bit smaller than the house they own downstate.  As a compromise for moving her into a smaller house, he has promised to take her to Florida for a few weeks during our cold winters.

I guess they rent/lease a condo that is near Disney World.  They have invited us to come and stay with them some time and take the girl to Disney.  Since we wouldn’t have to pay for a hotel/motel, we can save a little money.  There are so many different Disney vacation packages, though, that is is really hard to pick one!!  I have never been to a Disney park, so I am really excited that we might be able to go!!

Eli’s Birthday!!!

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

I miss my son each and every day…Six years ago (this November) his young life was snuffed out because of the carelessness of someone else.  Although I believe God allowed this to happen, I still feel like Eli went to heaven much much too early.

I often wonder what he would look like now, had he been able to age here on earth.  How tall would he be, would he have lost all his pre-adolescent chub, would his voice be rich and deep by now?? And then  I wonder about the “character” things.  Would he still be polite and kind and generous, I’d like to believe he would be.

Today he would have been 16.  August 15, 1994 9:27 PM.  9 lbs 4 oz, 19 inches long.

One of the happiest days of my life was when that “little man” came into my life.  All I ever wanted was to be a good wife and a good mom.  That was more important to me than anything else. I wanted to prove to God and everyone (and myself) that with His help, I could break the cycle of abuse I went through as a child and that against the world’s odds (not GOD”S) I could rise above all that.  I don’t really know if I was all that good at it, but I do know that I tried my best! And I know that Eli could have never doubted my love for him as I told him and showed him each and every day that I saw him that I loved him.  And I know I broke the cycle of abuse in my family because never once have I ever abused my kids in any way.

A lot has happened in these short 6 years that I would have never imagined would, but I am so thankful that God has allowed me and my family to hang on by His grace to what we know to be true and used it for our good.  I hope that when Eli looks down, he can see our love for God and for him and that we miss him and love him, but we are still marching forward and serving God the best way we know how.

Happy Birthday my love, I miss you and love you

Always, Mom

What a Pain!!

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

My friends dad had to have surgery on his rotator cuff (shoulder) a while back.  He was in so much pain before the surgery, he couldn’t lift his arm above his waist!!  That’s a lot of pain!! And he also suffers from Post-Polio syndrome (he had polio as a child), which can be very painful.  But this man is one of the hardest working men I know!!

He works at a truck parts factory, I think.  I’m not sure if they actually make parts or if they just fix them, but what he does is hard work.  He has to pull parts down off of high shelves and lift heavy truck and car parts.  It’s a hard job, my peeps!!

Anyway, they had to fight and fight to get the companies disability claims department to finally decide they would pay for his surgery.  I don’t know if they thought they should have their own disability insurance or what.  And it isn’t easy for some people to prove that their injuries are work related, either.  This man works on Church buses and friends cars and all that, so he technically could have injured himself somewhere other than work, but goodness!!!  Pulling parts and working on heavy equipment for 20+ years sure can’t be easy on a body!!

It would seem to  me that his place of work would want to take better care of their employees, to keep them in good shape so they can do their jobs and do them well!!

A little “Thank You” goes a long way…

Someone asked me whether or not you have to buy your wedding party gifts.  Like if you are short on money and can’t really afford it.  I think it’s always a good idea to get your wedding party something.  It doesn’t have to be really extravagant or expensive, but a small token of thanks is always appropriate.  They can be personal gifts for each person or they can be a general gift that would be appropriate for all of them.

For instance, some groomsmen gifts might include, money clips, flasks, tie tacks, or multi-tools.  Some bridesmaid gifts might include charm bracelets, a manicure set, a monogrammed tote, or matching jewelry (for the wedding) that they can keep after the wedding.  Buster and I bought matching jewelry for the girls and tie-tacks for the guys.  We didn’t have tons of money (still don’t) so we didn’t go real expensive, but it’s the sentiment that matters, not the cost!!

Remember this post???  Well, the shoes were not wide enough for my chubby little feet, so I am sending for a different style and if those don’t work, I’ll have to try something else entirely!!  Stay tuned…..

Family camp is amazing, I knew it would be.   Buster and pumpkin_seed and I went for a walk today on the Creation Trail, looked for items on our scavenger hunt list and sweat to death!!! And we also had really yummy french bread subs for lunch!!! I sang a solo in Chapel this morning (ugh) and we are all just having a good time!!!

Hope your week is going great, too….
