House For Sale…
Posted on August 08, 2011Well, we finally did it! We got our house back up for sale. We are using the same lady we had before, only she is working for a different realtor now. She worked real hard for us the last time, so we should have good results this time, too.
Last time, we got an offer, but it was really low and instead of countering, we just decided to wait to sell the house. This time we won’t be so hasty to do that, we REALLY need to sell it!!
The only problem is that when we got insurance, we insured our vehicles, our home and we also got life insurance, all through the same company. And since it was “bundled”, they gave a us a certain rate. Well, if we sell our home, we will no longer have that insured. We are also in the process of selling one of our vehicles. So that won’t be “bundled” in the insurance either. I wonder what that’s going to do to our rates? I hope we aren’t going to have to pay through the nose for it. We will have some kind of renter’s insurance for our belongings here in the house at camp and also for the one car we still have…
I guess we will find out…
The Good Stuff…
Posted on June 08, 2011I think I have only ever had three different car insurances in my life, but they all offered different things for different prices. But one thing none of them offered was any kind of roadside assistance club. You know, like the famous car insurance company with the three capital letters that are all the same?? LOL
Why is it that you have to pay through the nose to get the good stuff. I will never understand that. You spend your whole life paying premiums and how often does the average person actually use their insurance??
My husband and I have been in a couple minor accidents each and a couple major accidents each. So we know the importance of insurance and we are thankful for it. But, that being said, it is expensive for what you get for the average person!!!
I think that you should get some of your money back after so long if you don’t have to use any of the money you have paid in for a claim on anything, or get lower rates or something!!
Okay, I’m done….
$100 a week for GAS?????
Posted on April 22, 2011Buster had been saying for months that we really needed to get a different vehicle to take the girl to school with, because we were spending almost a $100 a week in gas alone. So, when we got our income tax return back which was dismal, at best, we went down the road and bought the neighbors little Neon.
It’s been a pretty good little car for what we paid for it!!! We’ve put almost as much into it as what we paid, though!! Oh well. We are only paying a little more than half of what we were for gas, so…
Then all we had to do was put the cheapest car insurance on the truck that we could. Which ended up being storage coverage. Cause you never know when a tree is gonna fall or softball size hail is gonna “attack” your vehicle!!!
I have a feeling we will be laying this car to rest before we can trade it or sell it but, it’s getting us where we need to go for now!!!
Easily Confused…
Posted on January 22, 2011I guess I am easily confused. I hope that my hubby is around for a long long time so I don’t have to figure these things out for myself…
I thought Medicare was for people of a certain age ( like 60 and over). And I also thought that the different “Parts” were for things like prescriptions and other things…
I was recently reading something about a Medicare part D plan and it was talking about disability insurance….
Is that what Medicare part D is? Can someone my age (30+) get Medicare part D, if they are disabled??
My sister is on disability, I wonder if this is what she is on?? HHmmmm…
While I’m Waiting…
Posted on January 20, 2011Whilst I wait for you, my dear friends to help me start my new adventure here at Blog-Diggidy, I shall continue to do random posts about such things as diet pills, home lighting and of course, cheap auto insurance. Because as we all know, these are subjects of the utmost importance!!
Which reminds me, I have to go check my bank account and see if my insurance has come out yet….til we meet again, dear friends…
Very Interesting….
Posted on December 11, 2010Until recently, when trying to figure out what kind of insurance we needed for our family, I didn’t really know anything about the types of insurances available and the differences between them. I mean, I knew the difference between life insurance and health insurance, but that’s not what I am talking about.
For instance, did you know that term life insurance is different than whole life insurance?? It is!! And term insurance rates are different than whole life insurance rates, too!! The insurance you buy is determined on your age and your specific needs. Someone who has their whole life ahead of them still would want “whole life” insurance. Someone who has lived most of their life already would benefit from “term life” insurance (for a specified “term” or length of time).
It’s all very interesting when you get right down to it!!
It’s good to be prepared….
Posted on September 07, 2010I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t know a lot about life insurance. I have done several posts on it, but am not , shall we say up to par on the whole term life insurance how to. All the ins and outs still elude me, but there is one thing I do know, and that is, it’s good to be prepared!! Especially if you have a family.
If you are leaving people behind, you want to make sure they can take care of themselves and not have to worry about things like how they are going to afford a funeral, burial, etc. and also what they are going to do for money in the months and years following your death. I know its a touchy subject that no one wants to talk about, but really, if you don’t, only your loved ones will suffer.

Is insurance mandatory at your college??
Posted on August 25, 2010If you have been around long at all, you have come to the realization that I blog about everything and anything!!! If you can go on and on and on write/talk about it, I probably have!! And probably even a few things you can’t/shouldn’t!! =)
Jut like today, I am gonna tell you about how easy it is to get affordable health coverage in!! Albeit, NC short term health insurance. Still the same, it is affordable insurance!! Actually it is for students who aren’t covered under a parent’s plan anymore or students who attend school out of their home State. Did you know some schools make it mandatory to have insurance??? WOW!!

A Little Late…
Posted on August 19, 2010I love how you struggle through something and then you find a solution. Back when I had my hysterectomy, Buster’s job didn’t offer health insurance and I didn’t qualify for Medicaid. So, we paid a large sum of money (over $10,000) for my surgery, and it would have been more if the Dr. and Hospital hadn’t deducted some form the amount do to some complications during the surgery.
Anyway, now I hear about this HSA (health savings account). The idea is, you purchase a high-deductible insurance plan (HDHP) that gives you a low-cost premium. Then you put some or even all the money you save on premiums into a tax-free health savings account in your own name. The money you put in is yours, not an insurance company’s. This is also good for you come tax time because, an HSA’s above-the-line deductibility REDUCES your adjusted gross income, effectively reducing your tax burden each year.
When a health problem comes along, you simply use your HSA to pay any qualified expenses that your high-deductible insurance doesn’t cover. The money is withdrawn tax-free and making payment couldn’t be easier, you just hand the provider your HSA debit card.
Most covered expenses include dental bills, over-the-counter medicines, prescription drugs, eye care, hearing aids, and many other health-related items and services that the HDHP doesn’t pay. And, if you don’t use all the money you put in, you can either use it later on in life for long-term care or medicare deductibles or you can withdraw it from the account (there is a penalty if you are under 65, though).

What a Pain!!
Posted on August 14, 2010My friends dad had to have surgery on his rotator cuff (shoulder) a while back. He was in so much pain before the surgery, he couldn’t lift his arm above his waist!! That’s a lot of pain!! And he also suffers from Post-Polio syndrome (he had polio as a child), which can be very painful. But this man is one of the hardest working men I know!!
He works at a truck parts factory, I think. I’m not sure if they actually make parts or if they just fix them, but what he does is hard work. He has to pull parts down off of high shelves and lift heavy truck and car parts. It’s a hard job, my peeps!!
Anyway, they had to fight and fight to get the companies disability claims department to finally decide they would pay for his surgery. I don’t know if they thought they should have their own disability insurance or what. And it isn’t easy for some people to prove that their injuries are work related, either. This man works on Church buses and friends cars and all that, so he technically could have injured himself somewhere other than work, but goodness!!! Pulling parts and working on heavy equipment for 20+ years sure can’t be easy on a body!!
It would seem to me that his place of work would want to take better care of their employees, to keep them in good shape so they can do their jobs and do them well!!
