good food…

had something really good the other night and wanted to share it with ya’ll. it’s a simple uummm….dessert, i guess you would call it.  just take flour tortilla shells, cut them in wedges (like a pie).  deep fry them in oil.  sprinkle with a fair amount of cinnamon and sugar.  coat them well while they are still wet  from oil.  serve warm or at room temperature… DELICIOUS!!!!

thnx for stopping by, see you soon!! til then…

Vacation spots….

Yeah, it’s cool to go on vacation.  Book a flight or drive to your destination.  Book a motel.  See the sites.

I would love to go with the hubby and visit distant places.  We have always stayed in motels whenever we have went somewhere.  We’ve never went on a “real vacation”, but we have done weekend jaunts or trips with our Church.  We have never rented a condo or anything like that.  But wouldn’t it be nice??  I was looking at Outer Banks vacation rentals and in some cases, you can rent a whole house for the same or less per night than you would spend on just a room at a motel!  Some are just feet away from the beach!  Now that’s what I call a vacation!

Out Of The Blue…

Just out of the blue, the other day, Buster says to me….When we sell the house, we should go on one of those Orlando vacations.  I’m like really?? You think so?  He says yeah since we haven’t ever really gone on a vacation before, we should.  I reminded him of when we went to the UP a couple years ago, He said helping friends clean up their campground for the upcoming season doesn’t count, even if we stayed their cabin for free!!   ;)

Yes, it’s very sad.  We have been married 16 years and we have never been on a vacation.  We never even had a “real” honeymoon!!  So, after we sell the house (hopefully in the next few months!!) and we get settled in, we are going to take a vacation.  Of course it won’t be til next winter probably because, really, who wants to go to Florida in the summer,  I mean really!!

Six Hours Later…

After six hours at the hospital, they finally let me take Buster home. He continues to be light headed and nauseous. He has thrown up several times, but not much as he hasn’t really eaten anything in over 24 hours now. He’s had a sprite, half cup of chicken noodle soup and two saltines since Wednesday night at 9 pm. He is very tired and has been up a couple times since he got home, but has spent most of his time in bed so far. Hopefully a good nights sleep and he’ll be feeling better.

So after all that,  I came home and Pumpkin_seed,  her friend K and I made Christmas cookies. She will be taking them to school tomorrow, assuming they have school tomorrow. We have a Winter Storm Warning effective through tomorrow evening at 7pm. We are supposed to get 6-12 inches of snow overnight?!? We’ll just see about that, now won’t we.  Tomorrow is her last day til 2009!!

Anywho, here are the fruits of our labor…

The picture with a lot of cookies on the rack…that’s not even half of them!!!  We made a ton!!!

having money is highly overrated… ;)

well, chuck and i put our four wheeler up for sale on craigslist.  :(   we had to do it so we can be debt free.  that is very important to us.  we seem to be drowning in bills right now and it isn’t getting any better.  we always used to dream about going on family vacations and also just the two of us getting away and staying in las vegas suites or someplace equally as expensive cool, but all that got put on hold for a while when he lost his job with the USPS.  so for now, until we are debt  free,  we are happy to spend  quality time here at home ;)

I need a vacation!!

Do you ever wish you could just take a vacation from your life??  I have been feeling like that for a while now.  I wish Buster and I could afford one of those vacation rentals, where you rent a house or condo for a week or whatever.  That would be so nice.  I would love to go to a warm sunny place, especially this time of year.  Where would your dream vacation take you??

Thanksgiving Update!!

We had a wonderful day!! I had the in-laws over for Thanksgiving Dinner this year. It was hubby’s Mom and Dad, His Sister (and her hubby) and their kids. We didn’t eat til 6:30 cause hubby’s sister and her hubby had another dinner to go to earlier in the afternoon. So they all came over later and we had dinner together. We had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes complete with marshmallows, pickles, olives, rolls, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. What a feast. Everything turned out really good, too!!

I should have taken a picture to share, but I didn’t. **sigh** And after we prayed, I had everyone give two things they were thankful for. We gave thanks for our homes, our salvation, food, clothes, family, grand kids, jobs, kids, and being able to get together for dinner!! There may have been other things, but I can’t remember. We had a great time…what did you do?? Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!! Please…Share what you did in the comments!!

Got this in my e-mail today…

A man in Phoenix calls his son in New York the day before

Thanksgiving and says,”I hate to ruin your day, but I

 have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing;

forty-five years of misery is enough.

“Pop, what are you talking about?” the son

screams. We can’t stand the sight of each other any

longer,” the father says. “We’re sick of each

other, and I’m sick of talking about this, so you call

your sister in Chicago and tell her.”

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the

phone. “Like heck they’re getting divorced,”

she shouts, “I’ll take care of this,”

She calls
Phoenix immediately, and screams at her father,

”You are NOT getting divorced. Don’t do a single

thing until I get there. I’m calling my brother back,

and we’ll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don’t

do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?” and hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife.

”Okay,” he says, “they’re coming for

Thanksgiving and paying their own way.”
