Higher Education….

 - by Jo

When looking for a good place to continue your education, there are a few things you will want to consider.

Location, Courses and Cost just to name a few.

Where do you want to be?

What are you interested in?

How much can/do you want to spend on your education?

Have you considered an online university??  A program like this can be personalized just for you, around your schedule and needs.  The convenience of it takes away your worries of where you go to school.

As far as what you are interested in, the course studies offered are practically unlimited!!  Everything from an online business degree to an online nursing degree.

I recently visited Western Governors University’s website and all I can say is “WOW”!!  They have got some great ideas!!  For instance, how many schools do you know of that charge a flat rate every six months so you only pay for the time it actually takes you to complete your studies, not credit hours.  The faster you excel, the more you save!!  Plus, they are non-profit and much more affordable than the typical University!!

WGU is a fully accredited online education institution.

SAT help….

SAT tests…wow, that brings back memories.  It’s things like this that really make me feel old!!  I don’t even remember what I got on mine..does anyone? Maybe it’s just me, cause I don’t think I did real hot, but I don’t know.  Now you can actually study for them online with LSAT prep .  How’s that for convenient?? I think back when I took mine, the best they could do was a pamphlet that the school handed out…..sign of the times, eh??

Family Projects…

 - by Jo

Every year pumpkin_seed has to do a Science Fair project and we go out and buy a cardboard display of some sort.  One year she and her dad made one with a little “house” with furniture and lights and the whole nine yards and the science part was how the light switch worked.  It was very cool.  She loves spending time with her dad working on ANYTHING!!!  I hope her new school does the same thing!!

J-O-B

I actually went to school to be a Medical Assistant.  Back when my son was a baby, I took a 13 month course that included medical coding training courses.  I really enjoyed it and I graduated with honors!! Then I found out I was pregnant with my daughter and never got a job.  Bummer!! I got really sick after I had her (I am Bipolar) and couldn’t hold down a job after that.  It’s too bad, too.  I really enjoy that kind of work!! The point?? These are the type of jobs you should train for, because this type of work is always in demand!!

nothing like a good book…

 - by Jo

When I need to relax and unwind, there is nothing better than sitting down with a good book.  I like a good romantic storyline now and then, but I think mostly, I like a good murder mystery or suspense type of storyline better.   What’s your favorite kind of book??

I don’t have a lot of time to sit down and read but I do like to do  it when I can.  And these days books are easy to come by, too.  You can find great books online at Amazon books.  They have a wide variety of books at good prices!!

Happy Reading, see you soon.  Til then…

Job security…

 - by Jo

My friends think I should go back and redo my schooling for being a Medical Assistant. I’m not sure if I would have to take all the classes again or just refreshers or what I would have to do. I graduated with honors the first time through so, I think I could do it again if I had to. I just don’t really have the time at the moment, or really the need for a job. IF things work out the way we hope they will that is. But my point was that their will always be a need for health care jobs.

Even with a weak economy, we will still need Doctors and Nurses and the like. So, I wouldn’t have to worry about finding and keeping a job as much as some others might.

Mocha Club…

Better late than never, I guess.  I was supposed to have this up at 1PM, so sorry!!!  Anyway, do you remember this post???  Well, this is what it was all about!!

I NEED AFRICA MORE THAN AFRICA NEEDS ME

Barrett Ward had this to say:

When I think of Africa, the following images immediately come to mind: Starvation. AIDS. Child soldiers. Genocide. Sex slaves. Orphans. From there, my thoughts naturally turn to how I can help, how I can make a difference. “I am needed here,” I think. “They have so little, and I have so much.” It’s true, there are great tragedies playing out in Africa everyday. There is often a level of suffering here that is unimaginable until you have seen it, and even then it is difficult to believe. But what is even harder is reconciling the challenges that many Africans face with the joy I see in the people. It’s a joy that comes from somewhere I cannot fathom, not within the framework that has been my life to this day. [read more]

Mocha Club…

 - by Jo

I know…the name is divine all in itself.  But this club is about so much more than coffee!!! I am so excited to be a part of this!  I have a friend who is very passionate about this, but If you are new to the ways of MC, like I am, this is how they roll~~

Mocha Club is a community-based website where members  can start a team and invite friends to join them in giving $7 a month – the cost of 2 mocha’s (thus the name) - to support a project in Africa.  Mocha Club has a vision, and that vision is to make it possible for everyday people, like you and I, who don’t have hundreds or thousands of dollars, to make a difference in Africa.

My friend posted a little bit ago about the Mocha Club and this campaign they were starting called “I NEED AFRICA MORE THAN AFRICA NEEDS ME”, and wanted to know if anyone would be interested in “helping” get the word out about this great cause.  I am so glad I took the time to get in touch with them and get involved in this campaign!!

So, then I had to think about if I really do need Africa, more than it needs me,  and I’m starting to realize that I do!!!

I need Africa because God has been calling me to do something wonderful in the life of someone else, with no thought of gain for myself.

I need Africa because giving is always better than receiving.

I need Africa because even though they are thousands of miles away, WE can be part of making their lives better!!

I need Africa  to remind me that even though I complain about what I don’t have far too much, I have much much more than I will ever deserve!!

Do you need Africa??  Please be in prayer about this cause.  Think about how much just a little time and money could help!!

Come on back December 1st, when I’ll tell you  what you can do to take part in this!!

God Bless!
