Have you ever looked at someone and thought ‘Wow, they must have had a rough life…’? You know the ones I’m talking about. They just look old and worn out. Kind of leathery and worn around the edges. Sometimes they aren’t even that old.

I was watching TV the other day and some talk show was on. I can’t remember which one now, but they had a 25 year old on the show and she literally looked like she was 40. I couldn’t believe it. I am 36 and she looked at least as old as me, if not older! I was shocked.

Sometimes the sun can age us and we might not even realize it. I really don’t worry that much about what my skin looks like as far as whether or not it’s ‘tan’, but I know some people think their skin has to be tan to look good. My advice to those people would be to use some kind of sunless tanning products so that you don’t age your skin prematurely. You don’t want to have leathery or wrinkly skin when you get older.

Not to mention you will significantly lower your risk of getting skin cancer, which is just scary…

I have a lot of friends that work in the medical field. I know nurses, Medical Assistants, Certified Nurses Assistants. Goodness, if you can name the position, I probably know one! Busy people, they are. And always on their feet and on the go!

Also, they are always getting puked or bled on. I think that’s why they where those cute nursing scrubs. So they don’t get their clothes dirty! For real! Ahaha. What a mess they would be if they didn’t! They look super comfy! And they come in all the cute fabrics! I’ve always want to buy a pair to wear around the house…

Big and Little Things

Yeah so the house we live in is kinda on the small side but hey, sometimes small is good. It’s easier to clean a small space, I’ll say that for it! We do have two bathrooms, and thought I like having two bathrooms, there are still TWO bathrooms, which means cleaning two bathrooms. I usually have ‘The Girl’ clean the main bath since she uses it the most. The bathtub and shower, anyway.

Our bathroom, which is right off of our bedroom doesn’t have a bathtub, just a shower. In a perfect world we would end up with an addition with a new master bedroom and bath with a jacuzzi tub and a separate shower. We would also have bathroom vanity with the double sinks and a huge mirror with the hanging lights…

Oh and while we’re dreaming, we would have a side by side fridge and a dishwasher. Just sayin’. But since we don’t live in a perfect world, we’ll be thankful for what we have because it’s so much more than we deserve! And we’ll keep making the girls help with the dishes and other chores and keep showering in out little shower!

Struggles

I don’t share a lot of super personal things on this blog. I do share some things, but not extremely personal things. Today I am going to get a little personal. I am struggling with something that is very hard. I am asking that you would pray for me. I don’t want to go into great detail because I don’t think that would be helpful, God knows…

I really need your prayers and so does my family. I appreciate you taking the time to pray. I will do the same for you and yours.

Have you ever just sat and thought about all the things you would do if you could do everything you wanted? I have. The list is long. From paying off all my families debt to buying silly things like sports cars. It’s funny what you think about sometime when you let your mind wander.

I’ve spent some time recently in one of the nicer hospitals in Grand Rapids and they have these really cool wall fountains. They are pretty sweet. I’d love to have one at home!! The sound they make is so soothing. I’d love to fall asleep to that sound every night! Plus they are beautiful!

For now I guess I’ll have to settle for the outdoor fountain up at camp. The guys did a great job with that one!! It’s gorgeous! And it’s practically in my back yard!

It seems like everyone I know, except me that is, has gone or is going to Florida recently or in the near future. So, as a good friend I feel it is my duty to pass along these great saving I came across while surfing these fine interwebz!

You’re so very welcome friends! Check out the fabulous specials for Orlando hotels! I mean GoodnessGracious! Me personally, I’ve never been. BUT, I cannot imagine it gets any better that staying in one of these great places. I mean WOW! From what I read some of these places are pretty much at your beck and call!! What could possibly be better?!?!?!

‘The Girl’ (my daughter) plays piano. How many of you knew that? I know some of you did. I hear that if you know how to play the piano you can learn the guitar pretty easily. Is that so? ‘The Girl’ has talked about wanting to learn how to plat the guitar a little bit. Her best friend plays the guitar.

I think it’d be fun for her to learn. I have been looking around and have found some stuff online here and there music related and whatnot, like here at propellerhead. But I really don’t know what all she needs to get started, anyone have any pointers on what a beginner guitarist needs?

I also like the violin, but I don’t know how easy that is to learn. I have a feeling that is a little harder. You probably need little more discipline for that instrument…

What Would You Do?

I’ve discussed this before but since it’s my blog, I do what I want…

I’m still struggling with weight loss and I wonder if I will ever be where I want to be this side of heaven. I wonder what my perfect body will look like…Ima be really mad it’s 200+ pounds. LOL

I have heard of so many ways to lose weight. Last night I heard of a new diet plan. The craziest one yet, if you ask me. It is the feeding tube diet. A Dr. actually puts a feeding tube down your throat for ten days and feeds you a diet of fat and protein through it. WOW! What extremes people will go to! People pay like $1500 for this! It’s for brides to be who ‘need’ to lose those last few pesky pounds just before their wedding.

Then there is a whole gamut of diet pills everything from phen phen to apidextra. But then they had to take phen phen off the market because it was dangerous, although it worked. But does apidextra work?

I don’t know, diet pills make me nervous anyway. I have heard too many stories about them to be able to take them without reservations. What do you think?!?!?!?!?

I am a ‘Fixer’

Ever since I can remember I have wanted to help people. I have wanted to fix their problems. I have wanted to make their hurts go away. I think it comes from wanting my own hurts to go away. I come from a history of abuse and neglect. It started from the time I was just a baby and continued through my young adulthood (actually my early thirties) until I decided I had had enough and would no longer allow it.

I had finally had enough and told my adoptive parents that I would no longer allow them to manipulate and hurt me and those I loved anymore. They no longer speak to me. It’s sad, really. My ‘dad’ could have had a relationship with me and my family if only he would have stood up to my ‘mother’. But he wouldn’t. I just don’t understand that. I don’t how, after years of abuse, he couldn’t stand up to her and say he had had enough. I guess he likes being stepped on and beaten down. Either that or he just doesn’t know how to stop it. I don’t know, I cannot and will not allow myself to worry about why he continues to allow her to hurt him the way she does. He is an adult and he should be able to take care of himself and if he won’t, there is nothing I can do about it. I have come to that conclusion after years and years of worrying myself sick over it. I simply cannot do it anymore.

So, now I have moved on to other people to worry about…

Such A Mess!!

OhMyGosh! My house is such a disaster area right now. Between not having enough room for everything and not feeling good enough to keep up with the housework for a while now, my house looks like a tornado has gone through it.

I think we need a smaller computer desk, that would give us more room in our living room area. And some of those cable ties for all the computer cords and stuff would be nice to keep them all nice and neat and organized so they aren’t all crazy and flung all over the place.

Then if we had some plastic tubs for all the Wii games and Play station games and that in the corner, that would free up some space in the living area, too. AAAAHHHH….The thought of having more room!! It makes me happy!!!

How Extreme Would You Go?

I have suffered from migraines for as long as I can remember. Sometimes they can get pretty bad. So bad I can’t stand up. I literally cannot stand. I have what they call optical migraines also. This causes a flash in my line of vision that starts over on the side and moves across my line of vision and eventually disappears. The flash only lasts a few minutes usually, and is painless. The headache that comes after the flash though, is excruciating! And the motion from the flashing makes me sick to my stomach.

Sometimes I think I would do ANYTHING to get rid of these headaches, including experimental Migraine procedures. I don’t know about you, but I am not a huge fan of pain or nausea. Don’t know many people who are…Sometimes I feel like I am at my ropes end.

I did start some Migraine meds last year and I am getting fewer headaches, but I would like to have none at all. I am told this is an unreasonable request. I’m not a Dr. and I don’t play one on TV, but why can’t they figure out how to get rid of these things?!?!?! I for one am ready to not suffer any more!!
