What’s Goin’ On…

Posted on November 10, 2011

I made these beauties the other day…

and these, they are actually the same cupcakes, just done a lil’ differently

and I have these pinned on Pinterest to try someday…

Corn on the cob cupcakes (are these not the CUTEST?!?!)

Cookies and cream cupcakes (these are actually on the Jo-Lyn’s menu)

I am making these pumpkin cream cheese muffins for sunday school in a couple weeks…

These are super cute! I am using the picture for reference, in case I ever do a “themed” cupcake order.

Anyway, that’s what’s going on here, What’s going on with you friends? Anything new and exciting? I have three “jobs” lined up so far for my budding little biznezz.

I am trying to remember to go slow and not get ahead of myself and my husband is trying to be patient with me because I am an all-or-nothing, full-speed-ahead, head-strong kinda girl.  Bless his heart.  I want everything RIGHT NOW.  Like yesterday or before, please and thank you.

So, yeah it’s going to be interesting all up in and around here til things get settled with this whole business thing.  We have no extra money to start an at-home business.  But don’t be worrying your pretty little heads about that.  That won’t stop me, it never has (sarcasm).  God is good and if this is s’posed to happen, it will and if it’s not, it won’t!  That is how I look at it!

I would love it if someone would come along and want to invest in my little cupcake biznezz, but I don’t know any rich people or even any comfortably well-off people…sigh.  So, we will this the old fashioned way.  A little sweat, a little blood (hopefully not in the cupcakes ;) ) a little hard work, a lot  of prayer and we’ll get there!!

Well, I am off to go clean something, or bake something, or take a nap…  :)

Til we meet again…

I want a Subway!!

Posted on March 19, 2011

Ever thought about owning your own business?? I have…in fact, I started an AVON business a few years ago, it was a flop, but it was fun while it lasted.  My problem was, in the end, I was spending more than I was making.  That’s a problem, unless you aren’t trying to make money.  A friend of mine sells it, so she can save money on the product, it works for her, but I was looking to make money.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to own my own store.  One of my husbands cousins owns and operates a Subway in Grand Rapids.  I looked into franchise opportunities, but I’m not in the market anymore, since I work here at camp.  But maybe someday…

Coinage!!!

Posted on February 14, 2011

My husband is a coin collector. He likes all those uncirculated coins and proof sets and all that jazz. Every year new sets come out and he buys them, in fact he has  them on auto ship…

I’m like “Do we really need to buy gold coins every year?  This is not a necessity”. And He is like “Yes, these are a great investment and I’m gonna be able to pass these down to Pumpkin_seed.

What she is going to do with all these coins still remains a mystery to me….

Small Business?? ….not so much

Posted on March 03, 2010

When I had my own AVON business going, I thought about renting a small space to store inventory and sell out of.  I had heard of a few ladies opening up little shops to run their businesses out of and thought it was a great idea.  BEFORE I started looking into things like  epson tm-t88iv receipt printers, credit card machines, cash registers and the like.  All things I would need in order to make my shop efficient.  All of which , in themselves, wouldn’t be too bad as far as cost, but add them up and it’s a lot of money!!  I soon found out that the business I would get in my area would not be enough to warrant such purchases!! Oh well, I’m just glad I figure that out before I rented out a space and bought a bunch of equipment I wouldn’t use!!

Home Sweet Home…

Before Buster and I decided to move out to camp and be in full-time Christian service, we were trying to sell our home and move out to the country.  We wanted to have less taxes and more property.  After doing some research, we thought about buying a piece of property and putting a new manufactured home on it.  They are built very well these days and can be a fraction of the cost of a traditional home.  But, alas, God had other plans, and I’m so glad we are here at camp where we belong!!

Life Insurance…

Posted on October 29, 2009

My hubby had a good job with benefits when my son went to heaven.  Although most people don’t, we had life insurance policies on everyone in the family, the children included.  And I’m so glad we did.  Funerals and burials are EXPENSIVE!!!  I know it’s hard to think about and even harder to take steps to make sure you are covered, but you can find term life insurance online.  I encourage you to inquire about  life insurance, for EVERYONE  in your family.

Making a Better Business…

Posted on January 03, 2009

At the moment I am self-employed.  I am an independent contractor.  I enjoy being self-employed. I work the hours I want.  I answer to pretty much only myself .  I do work under certain stipulations, but I have a lot of leeway.  I like it.

I do a variety of different things to make money, too.  I don’t want to go into too much detail, but I do some really neat stuff.

I also sell things on Ebay to make money.  I have thought about getting into that more.  I have also thought about opening my own on-line store also.  Either through Ebay or just on my own.  I need  to get more information on that, though before I go head on into it.  Like for instance do I need any special machine for credit card processing ?  I know when I have sold things on Ebay people have probably paid with credit cards, through PayPal, but I have never had special accessories to do that… But if I were to have a store of my own, would I need to?

Some people are having to take out loans to start their businesses.  I know someone who just bought a restaurant with an apartment above it.  They are going to have to take a loan out to stock up  on supplies so they can get their business up and running.  These are hard times and it looks like things will get a little worse before they get better.

I am hoping not to have to invest a lot of money in a business that isn’t going to thrive.  I think I need to work the kinks out of my ideas before I start anything!!!
