Asthma and Allergies…

Posted on April 01, 2011

My youngest sister suffers from both of these “illnesses”. They can be scary sometimes. Asthma for obvious reasons, not being able to be breathe and all. Allergies can also be dangerous if not taken care of.

Grandma G. was concerned when they moved into their new house because of the possible dampness in the basement. Dampness encourages the growth of mold and mildew, which she is allergic to. Severely allergic…

While they have a standard “space” dehumidifier, they could also look into a whole house dehumidifier. Santa Fe dehumidifier makes larger models that will keep whole houses or buildings free from moisture. I don’t know that Grandma G. would need something like this, but t’s good to know all your options!! ;)

I want a Subway!!

Posted on March 19, 2011

Ever thought about owning your own business?? I have…in fact, I started an AVON business a few years ago, it was a flop, but it was fun while it lasted.  My problem was, in the end, I was spending more than I was making.  That’s a problem, unless you aren’t trying to make money.  A friend of mine sells it, so she can save money on the product, it works for her, but I was looking to make money.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to own my own store.  One of my husbands cousins owns and operates a Subway in Grand Rapids.  I looked into franchise opportunities, but I’m not in the market anymore, since I work here at camp.  But maybe someday…

Golf, Anyone?

Posted on March 18, 2011

We have a mini golf course at camp that the kids love to play on.  We, the adults, like to play it too, if we are honest about it.  I like to play but I am absolutely terrible at it!!

My husband, who has a very mathematical brain (he’s good with angles and all that) is way better at it then I am!!

Anyway, I thought it would be cool to put our color logo on golf balls.  The camps logo, that is…Wouldn’t that be neat?  The kids could even buy them for souvenir’s.  Ya know, buy it, play with it, take it home…

It’s a good way to get the camp’s name ”out there”, yes?   :)

With the economy the way it is right now, if you don’t have a skill set of any kind, it’s probably really hard to find a job.  You add having a family to the mix and it gets even messier.  A lot of parents are having a hard time with balancing a job, a home and schooling.

That’s what’s nice about online degree programs.  Most of them allow you to work at your own pace and on your own time, meaning you can “go to class” right in your own home, after the kids go to bed for the night, or while they are doing homework, or whenever is convenient for you…

Again, You’re Welcome!!   ;)

Beggers Can’t Be Choosers…

With the job market the way it is right now, if you are looking for work, I would suggest you take what you can get!!

I hear people complain all the time about their jobs and I just think to myself , “Be thankful you have a job!!”  There are so many people out there looking for work that they would take your lousy no-good job in a heartbeat!!

So, think about all those who don’t have jobs and take those offered jobs retail, or otherwise!!

Let’s Go Shoppping!! =)

Posted on June 28, 2010

I absolutely love to shop online.  A lot of online stores only accept credit cards and/or Paypal as payment options, which, in my case, proves to be problematic, as I do not have a credit card.  I do have Paypal, but sometimes it is a pain to go to their site, log in, approve payment, blah blah blah blah blah.

Now, it’s even easier to shop online (LOVE THAT!!).  You simply shop, choose Ebill me when you’re all done and then when you get your bill ( by e-mail), make the payment at your online bank or at your walk-in location!! You can also get lots of online coupons on their site!! How cool is that??

Carry On =)

Thanks to our somewhat secure “jobs” here at camp (as long as we are being led to stay here by God, I can’t see us leaving, unless they KICK.US. OUT LOL), Buster and I don’t have to worry about such things as seeking employment.  I get a little nervous when I think about all the employment screening companies  have to do these days.  My hubby , when seeking employment after he lost his job with the USPS, heard such things as…

You are over-qualified for this job!

You don’t have enough experience on this machine for this job!

Do you have a background in this field?

It was terrible!! I am so thankful God has put us here at camp and that we can served Him here and all our needs will be met because we are in His will!!  If only everyone could say that!

Carry On!! =)

SHOES!!

Posted on April 15, 2010

So, I ‘m sitting in Church the other day, squirming, trying to get comfy in the pew.  I bent my foot to take some pressure off the back of my leg and the strap across the top of my shoe broke!! It broke!! That’s what I get for buying cheap shoes!! So now I am in search of new black dress shoes!  I have one pair, but they are weird,  I need another.

So I get online to see what kind of deals I could find and fell in love!! LOL Can you fall in love with a pair of shoes?? YES, for realz people!!!  I have never heard of Christian Louboutin before, but I know him (maybe her??) now!!  Great shoes!! I want the black studded patent ‘Star Prive 120′ platform slingbacks.  I must have them!! LOL  I am in awe of these shoes people!  They are going on my Christmas wish list!! LOL

DEBT!

OK, I HAVE to talk about this, it’s driving me insane!!  Why would they even come up with such a thing as credit cards for bad credit??  If you have bad credit, why would you even want a credit card??  I understand the concept of building credit with a credit card, but honestly!!!  If you are already in trouble, should you really put yourself in that situation?

I would sooner think you would want to buy a small piece of property or take out a small loan, that won’t charge you a 21% APR.  I don’t know.  I think people rely too much on credit these days.  I can see how it’s helpful to have good credit, but it can be very dangerous!!

Small Business?? ….not so much

Posted on March 03, 2010

When I had my own AVON business going, I thought about renting a small space to store inventory and sell out of.  I had heard of a few ladies opening up little shops to run their businesses out of and thought it was a great idea.  BEFORE I started looking into things like  epson tm-t88iv receipt printers, credit card machines, cash registers and the like.  All things I would need in order to make my shop efficient.  All of which , in themselves, wouldn’t be too bad as far as cost, but add them up and it’s a lot of money!!  I soon found out that the business I would get in my area would not be enough to warrant such purchases!! Oh well, I’m just glad I figure that out before I rented out a space and bought a bunch of equipment I wouldn’t use!!

Blogtastic!!

Posted on February 06, 2010

I had been blogging for a very short time when I heard that you could actually make money doing it.  A friend of mine told me she was making $200-$300 every two weeks just doing paid posts on her blog.  So, I thought I would check it out and see if I could make money at it.  Almost two years later, I am making some money, and I am loving it, but I feel like with the right connections, I could be making much more.  So when I heard about business2blogger, you can imagine how excited I was to check it out!!   They do all the hard work for you, FOR FREE!!! They connect the right businesses to the right bloggers and the right bloggers to the right businesses.  So, now that I am signed up with them, maybe I can finally start making some real money doing what I love to do!!  Thanks for a great opportunity guys!!

Job Prospects…

Posted on February 05, 2010

The State I live in has the highest rate of UN employment in the country!!!! It’s times like this when I am so thankful that I am married to a Godly man who is more interested in being in God’s will than “the bottom line”.  He feels that it is God’s will (and so do I) that we work here at Fort Faith Bible Camp as “missionaries”.  Not once since we have been out here have we had to worry about paying our bills.  God always provides! So even though we are both technically unemployed because we do not have “regular” paying jobs, we are beyond wealthy in so many ways!!

Be Blessed…
