Natural Disasters…
Posted on September 14, 2011Lots of Natural Disasters plastered all over the news lately, it’s sad. Hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, they’re all over the news. All over the world. It’s scary. I don’t know about you, but I feel helpless as to what to do for those in need. I don’t have the money to help people who need it.
I don’t have the time to go and help either. I do have the resources to help in this fashion though. Here is a place where you can rent Commercial and Industrial water pumps that can handle a variety of problems including:
- Flood Control
- Industrial
- Storm Water Drainage
- Bypass Pumping
- Agriculture
- Construction Dewatering
- Transfer Pumping
- Emergency Standby
- Quarries
- Sewage
- Mining
- Irrigation
They carry pumps that are any where from 2″ to 60″ and they are always adding new equipment, so look them up online at wegotpumps.com or give them a call at

Love…
Posted on September 13, 2011Yesterday I talked a little bit about being “too” fundamental. Today I want to talk about loving people. Not just loving people, but loving people as Christians. The reason I want to talk about this is because IT.IS.SO.IMPORTANT.
As Christians we are called to love one another as Christ loves us. Did you know that? It’s something I think we all forget. Even the best of Christians forget this. We get so caught up in the “rules” and “regulations” that we want to impose on each other that we forget to love one another. I touched on this yesterday, but wanted to expand on it today.
The evangelist we had at our church Sunday made a comment while preaching that stuck with me. He said, “Your church will only be as great as the love you show others”. Wow!! That statement is so simple and yet so profound and the same time! And it makes so much sense!
Let me stress something to you friends. We are never going to grow our churches IF.WE.DON’T.LOVE.PEOPLE. and we can’t love people if we are CONSTANTLY.JUDGING.THEM. for every little thing that we don’t agree with. Get out of your own way and allow yourself to see others the way God sees them! Allow yourself to love people the way God loves them…unconditionally, wholly, without condemnation, the way He loves YOU!
How Fundamental is TOO Fundamental?
Posted on September 12, 2011We had an evangelist preach at our church yesterday in our AM and PM services. A man who recently resigned his church to go into evangelism.
A good man.
A godly man.
A man who’s wife has been battling cancer for the last two years. He spoke about some of the struggles they have had. He went into detail about some of the medical procedures she has been through and the problems she has had. It is sad and it is tragic. These people have through “it”!
He said something yesterday that made a lot of sense to me and I had to write it down. He made the statement, ” We’ve gotten so ‘fundamental’, we’ve forgotten how to love”. That is so very true!!
We have gotten so tied up in the “Thou shalt nots” that we have forgotten that we are supposed to love one another! We are supposed to love one another just as Christ loved us! Yes, Christ was against sin, but He loved people and He loved them unconditionally!
I think that God laid out in black and white in the bible what He thought was important for us to know about how we should live. I feel that if it’s not there in the bible, then God didn’t feel it was necessary to include it as part of His “instructions” for us. I don’t feel we need to add anything to it or take anything from it. It is whole and complete as it is. I need nothing more than what I have to tell me how I should live my life.
So when people, no matter who they are, want to tell me I should do this or that because it is “God’s will for my life”, I simply have to go to my bible and read it to see what God has to say about it. If I can’t find it there, then I make my own choice (after prayer and godly council) as to whether or not it is truly God’s will for my life. If it is, then I implement the change, if it’s not, I simply don’t.
How “fundamental” are you?
Tired
Posted on September 08, 2011Don’t know what my problem is the last few days. I haven’t been sleeping well, but I’m tired. You would think if I’m tired, I would sleep better, but no. Doesn’t seem to work that way. I wake up in the middle of the night and toss and turn and can’t fall back to sleep.
I also seem to be crying at the drop of a hat, or pin, or anything….or nothing! I have been missing my son a lot lately, due to his birthday being just a couple weeks ago, but I thought I was over that now. I don’t know. I just seem to have this cloud hanging over me that I can’t quite get rid of.
I am Bipolar, diagnosed when I was 13. I also have Borderline Personality Disorder. So I am wondering if these are playing a part in how I am feeling lately. Knowing this about myself helps, if only in the fact that I can let others know when I am having a hard time with things early in the game so they can be on the look out for certain behaviors and so can I. The earlier, the better, because once things into full swing, it’s often too late, and then it’s time for medication and sometimes hospitalization and no one wants that!
So, I am careful to read my bible and pray, maybe even more than normal. I am careful to make sure I am going to church like I should. And I am careful to watch for tell tale signs that my moods are getting out of control before they get so bad that I cannot handle it.
It helps that I am married to the most amazing man on the planet. He is so supportive and puts up with a lot! Lord knows, he’s not perfect, but He’s perfect for me!
Tears….
Posted on September 05, 2011Had a good cry this afternoon. Sometimes you just have to do that. I can go for months and months without crying over the loss of my son. I can talk about him. Think about him. Look at pictures of him. Watch movies of him. Lots of things and not cry a single tear. Then it will hit me like a tons of bricks and I will cry so hard I think I will die. My heart will hurt so bad I think it is literally breaking into little pieces.

I don’t understand why the difference, but I know this. Those tears that eventually come, they cleanse my soul. They clean me out. It’s like the pain and sadness just build and build until they can’t be contained and then they just break loose.
I am so thankful that God gives His grace to those that ask for it and depend on Him for it. I am also thankful for friends and family that love me and support me. THANK YOU! GOD BLESS YOU!!
Chicken and Berry Salad
Posted on September 01, 2011This salad is so good, you’ll forget it’s good for you!
- You start off with a generous portion of either Spring Mix greens or Iceberg Lettuce (actually, you can use whatever lettuce you prefer). I’d say about 2 cups or so.
- Then you top your lettuce greens with fresh blueberries and fresh, sliced strawberries. Probably 1/2- 1 cup.
- Then you add your chicken (I usually use the Tyson oven roasted chicken that’s already cooked and cubed, it’s in the freezer section of the store…I just reheat it in a pan, adding a little Nature’s Seasons and Garlic Salt. You could use whatever you want.) Another 1/2 – 1 cup.
- Next you top with your Strawberry Salad Dressing (recipe as follows) and you’re ready to dig in! A few tablespoons will do.
Strawberry Salad Dressing
1/4 c. cider vinegar
1 T. minced onion
3/4 t. paprika
3/4 t. Worcestershire sauce
3/4 c. splenda
1 c. fresh strawberries, cut up
1 – 1 1/4 c. canola oil (can also use light tasting olive oil)
In a blender combine all ingredients except oil. Once blended well, add oil slowly, a little at a time, blending well after each addition until all the oil is added. Blend well. Dressing will keep in the refrigerator for about a month, but this is so good, I doubt it will last that long…
Collectable Coins…
Posted on August 31, 2011People collect all kinds of things, thimbles, stamps, baseball cards, coins. With coins, you can get proof sets and uncirculated coins, all different kinds. I personally don’t understand the excitement over coins, but to each his own, I guess.
And I guess, they do hold some value, so it’s not like your throwing your money away or anything. Looking online, I was kind of surprised to find that you can spend a lot of money of coins, though!! For example, you can buy 100 uncirculated morgan dollars, all dated before 1904, for just over $5,000.00.
To me, that’s a bit much. But maybe that’s right up some one’s alley, who knows?? What do you think??
Better Choices…
Posted on August 24, 2011Sitting in the parking lot the other day, waiting for Buster to come out of the store, I was watching these ladies eat in their truck. Stuffing their faces with burgers and fries, and gulping down huge drinks. It was actually quite disgusting. Mostly because I could see myself in them, that was me just a few short months ago. And the fact that they were eating it isn’t the disgusting part folks, the way they were eating is.
They were literally stuffing there faces. They weren’t trying to eat daintily or nicely, they weren’t trying to be lady-like, they were cramming food into their mouths like it was going to be their last meal. I actually gagged a couple times.
The sad part is that neither of these ladies were a healthy weight…in other words, they were both overweight. If I had to guess I would say both would be considered obese.
I would like to see these ladies, as well as everyone else, make healthier choices in their food consumption. I’d like it to be so that we would have no need for such extremes as weight-loss surgery and weight loss pills for women.
I’d like to see us all get back to eating whole foods, closer to the way God intended us to eat them. Fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats, a little low-fat dairy, beans, corn, popcorn …it’s a great way to eat and it’s so very healthy!
UGH!
Posted on August 19, 2011Sometimes I just have to sit back and laugh at myself. I have been searching for a couple months now for a replacement for my cell phone. I can hardly ever answer it. It is supposed to ring four times before the voice mail picks up. It very rarely does. It usually does one of a few things…
- Goes directly to voice mail
- Rings once and then goes to voice mail
- Rings twice and goes to voice mail
- Allows me to answer, says it’s connecting then says missed call
- Allows me to answer and goes to contact list
- Allows me to answer and goes to browser
Very rarely does the phone allow me to actually answer and take a call, so I have looked high and low for a new phone.
I have visited several websites that sell used/new phones, several brand name cell phone company’s websites, and chain store websites searching for a new phone. Well, searching the internet, I clicked on something wrong and didn’t realize it right away, so after browsing through pages and pages of samsung cell phone batteries, i realized my mistake, and corrected it….on the bright side, my husband owns a samsung cell phone. If and when he needs a new battery, I know where to go!!
Opening A Can Of Worms…
Posted on August 15, 2011As Christians, sometimes, I am afraid we give ourselves a bad name. We paint ourselves into a corner? Paint ourselves in a bad light? I don’t know how to say it…
We mess up. And we mess up A LOT. We are, after all, just human, like everyone else. Nothing special. Sinners, saved by grace (can I get an amen).
I heard last night at church something that made my heart ache and I can’t go into great detail about without people knowing exactly who it was about and so on and so forth, but I can say this much, it was about judging others.
Can I just say something here. It is one thing to have convictions and standards, I am all for them!! I think we should all have convictions and standards in our lives based on the Bible and God’s calling on and in our lives!! Convictions and standards on dress, dating, separation, what we watch, what we listen to, etc.
It is one thing to teach your children those convictions. It is a totally other thing to teach your children to judge other people about said convictions (or allow them to do so) !! I’m sorry but that is WRONG!!
The Bible is very clear about who is supposed to judge (God) and who isn’t (man) and what will happen to those who do so (he will be judged).
I am talking to myself more than anyone else here folks, just so ya know!! I need to work on this too!! It’s something we all need to work on! Maybe if we thought more about our own walk with God and what we could do better, we could get more done for God!!
Good People, Bad Credit…
Posted on August 15, 2011In this bad economy, more and more people are finding themselves in more and more debt because they are finding themselves out of jobs and racking up credit card debt.
This is mostly because they are using credit cards they already had before they lost their jobs. But if you think about it. Using a credit card when you don’t have the means to pay if off isn’t really a smart thing to do , now is it?
But, some people don’t think about that before they do it, they figure eventually they will find a job and they will be able to pay it off….
This is the problem with that kind of thinking folks…what they don’t take into consideration is that the higher your total gets, the higher the interest is and the higher minimum payment is! See, where I’m going with this?? It means you OWE.MORE.MONEY.
And if you don’t have a job, how are you going to pay more money? You aren’t! And then you are going to have collection agencies calling you all hours of the day and night wanting your car, your house, your children and basically everything and anything not nailed down.
So, my advice to you is, if you don’t have the money in the bank right now to pay the credit card bill, don’t charge it!! It is a really bad habit to get into to to swipe that card and just say “charge it” and worry about paying for it some other time, it will get you into a LOT of trouble!! Be responsible with what God has blessed you with!!
