The Annual #Ultimate Blog Party 2013 is upon us and I had no idea until just a bit ago, so I am scrambling to put a post up for anyone who might meander this way to check out what goes on around here. In a nut shell, my blog started out as a way to journal and keep out-of-state family/friends updated on family stuffs. And then it kinda turned into this monster full of rants, raves, recipes and even a few reviews. Hey, that’s how I roll, yo.
It has been quite a journey! I started this way back in ’08. It really hasn’t grown like I wanted it to. Don’t get me wrong, it has grown. But my page rank is still 1 and my Klout score is still in the mid 30′s to low 40′s depending on the day. I know it’s not my sparkling personality or my dry sense of humor ::crickets::
Anywhooo…I am a thirty something mom who has been married for almost 20 years. I married my high school sweetheart right out of high school. I had my kids young (when I was 19 and 21). I have been a SAHM for the most part and loved it. In 2004, my 10 year old son was killed in an auto accident. My daughter was 8 at the time. We were all in the car at the time. It turned our world upside down. I really began to see what was important in life and what wasn’t. Life is not going to end if the dishes aren’t washed and the laundry isn’t done. Life doesn’t come to a crashing halt if the kids aren’t in bed at 8:00pm sharp. Take a breath, relax and enjoy every minute you have your littles with you because you never know when your last minute will be. I have no regrets. I always told my son how much I loved him and how dear he was to me and we had a good time playing and laughing. I wasn’t perfect and neither was he, I’m still not perfect and never will be here on earth but I LOVE with all my heart and I know what’s important now and what isn’t. I do wish I had learned it all a little sooner.
So, now it’s just me (Jo), hubby (Buster) and my daughter (The Girl). Through a series of ups and downs and God working in us, we now live/work at a Christian camp. We’ve been here four years. We moved out here Mother’s Day weekend of ’09. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s so worth it. We believe that we are smack dab in the middle of God’s will for us and we are loving every minute of it.
