I love my “job”…

Buster and I have been drooling over looking at some  bedroom furniture sets, as we have never had a “real” one.  When we bought our first house, it came partially furnished with some cheap furniture, which included a headboard and dresser set that matched, but it wasn’t anything that was really nice.  Soon after, we bought a king size bed and the headboard didn’t fit it, so we have been about 12 years or so without one.  Which isn’t really a big deal, but I would really like to get a nice matching set.

CSNStores is making it really easy for me to find stuff I like and get it for a reasonable price.  They have given me the opportunity to pick something out from any one of their 200+ stores, order it and review it here on my blog.   It’s really been awesome…You remember my Fondue Set and my Cookie Sheet, don’t you?? Those are mine thanks to the fine folks over at CSN Stores!!! I love my “job”!!!

Come on back in a few days when I will be posting a review on these.  My Pastor’s wife wears Aerosoles all the time and is always telling me how comfortable they are, so I am going to try them out.  I have been trying to find a pair of sandals that have heels but are still comfortable, but haven’t had much luck thus far.   I am so excited!! I can’t wait to share with you what I think of these beauties….

Dream a Little Dream…

The cell phone provider we use recently merged with another.  The iPhone is supported by this other company, while the one we have is not.  So, I was trying to convince Buster that we need a new iPhone because, well just because we can now (if we could afford it, that is, which we can’t).

He wasn’t convinced…

A friend of mine had one and she loved it, in fact, I think she recently went back to one.  I just think they are cool because you can get so many iphone accessories and apps for them.  Everything from news apps to an app that helps you time your contractions, during labor.  It’s crazy what they can do with these things!!

Well, a girl can dream, can’t she?? =)

My Little Business…

In an attempt to make some money from “home”, I started my own AVON business a couple years ago.  I wanted to really get involved in the company and make some money while making women feel good about the way they looked.

I did my homework on how to get more exposure and get more clientele.  I decided one good way to get my name out there was to look into my color printing options.  I eventually had some business cards made and some magnets the ladies could put on their fridges so my name and number would be handy.  It would have been nice to get some pens and maybe some stationary or something, but the point was to make money not spend it all on advertising!! =)

It was nice while it lasted.  I was spending more than I was making in the end, so I stopped selling AND buying…but I did enjoy myself for the 6 months or so that I was a Rep.    I should have done more homework on how to deal with a failing economy and gotten more involved with the meetings and all that, but who has the time.  Oh well, like I said, it was nice while it lasted….

“Book” Smarts…

Buster and I moved into a house last year that is 1/3 the size of our previous house.  Needless to say we are having quite a time finding room for all our things.  One thing we really don’t want to get rid of , but may not have a choice about is books.  We had an extra room in our old house where we kept all the books on bookshelves.  We no longer have an extra room for ANYTHING!!

Some of our books are probably worth some money if we can find the right venue to sell them.  I recently found out you can sell used books online!!  The best part of that is, that you can recoup most of your money when you sell them that way, and you can sell your books night or day, every day since it’s online and always “open”.  You can even sell your used textbooks, which is good for those who can’t afford new or just don’t want to pay full price for them!!

CAMP!!!! =)

I have been bugging the camp director here at Fort Faith Baptist Bible Camp (I know it’s a mouthful) to buy some promotional items to sell in our “Snack Shack”.  By the way, the “Snack Shack”  is where the kids can go buy candy, pop, chips and the like  in between meals to keep them hopped up on sugar and caffeine from starving, the poor things!!  =)

So, recently the camp bought some really cool pens that have the camp logo on them for the kids to take notes in chapel and write mom and dad letters and all that good stuff.   They turned out really good.    Pumpkin_seed has a thing for water bottles so I thought it would be a great idea to get some custom water bottles as well.  And t-shirts, frisbees, balls, the list of ideas goes on and on!! It would be a great idea to get the Fort Faith Camp name out there and also give the kids little mementos of their time here at Fort Faith!!!

MY NEW FONDUE SET!! =)

Remember this post??  Well, the fine people over at CSN Stores sent out my fondue pot within just a few days.  But, as usual, I have been so busy, I haven’t had a chance to use it, let alone review it!!

UNTIL NOW!!!

I am so glad that CSN Stores offered me the chance to review this fondue pot.

It.Is.Fabulous.

I used a couple recipes from the owner’s booklet that came with the fondue pot.  I wasn’t impressed with the first one we tried (the one we used for the pictures).  And honestly, we added a few ingredients to the cream cheese recipe to try to “kick it up a notch” and it did help, but I was looking for something with a little more umph!!  But the chocolate recipe was good!!!

The pot itself was great!! All the ingredients melted like they were supposed to, and the easy-to-read/use  heat settings were nice.  All it took to make the fondue sauces  we used  was the warm setting on the dial.

The fondue pot I got included eight “forks”, each with a different colored “dot” at the end of the stick so you don’t have to worry about mixing them up when using them with friends.  I, of course picked the pink one!!  Then the kids fought over the rest…but it all worked out.  It also has a stay-cool ring that sits on the top of the pot itself to hold the forks and catch drips and such.  It is electric but fully immersible for washing, which is nice.  It was very easy to clean after both recipes, cheese and chocolate. Overall, I think this is a great product.

The only thing I would do different is make the pot divided.  It is big enough that you could do two fondues at once.  Once sweet and one savory, for example.  It would be great to be able to both without having to take one fondue out and wash the pot and start over on another!! Just a suggestion Rival!! =)

I give this Fondue Pot ♥♥♥♥ (4 hearts)!!!

(since I don’t have stars on my character thingy, I will use hearts for rating on my reviews…1 heart being very poor, 2 hearts being poor, 3 hearts being average, 4 hearts being good and 5  hearts being very good).

Here are some pictures of our Fondue Party!!

So there you have it.  Rival’s 3 qt. Stainless Steel Fondue Set is a big hit at our house!!!

Isn’t my “little” helper too cute?? Love you pumpkin_seed, Thanks for helping out!!

Writing just to “hear” myself… =)

I realize that people don’t pay any attention to what I write on here anymore….cause I never get any comments!!! So I am just gonna ramble on just because I can.

Apparently peoples don’t care about asbestos cancer or cell boosters or diet pills or where to go to compare life insurance. But I will continue to write about such things until I can’t anymore because I am a glutton for punishment.  And as I type , I often say what I am typing out loud and let’s face it.  I like to hear myself talk!! NOT!!!

Blah Blah Blah…

When will people realize that everyone has a right to their own opinion.  And that not everyone will agree about everything??  I am tired of people who think life is all or nothing and if they don’t agree on everything, they can’t possibly be friends.

If that were the case, I would probably have 1 true friend.  I have several true friends, probably more now than ever, but I don’t always agree 100% with them!!! We agree to disagree!!  And that is OK!!! This would be a very boring world if we all had the same mind, the same opinions and the same lives….

So,  if your friends drink only bottled water (and you don’t), immunize their kids (and you don’t), take prenatal vitamins (and you don’t), play at public parks (and you don’t), or whatever it is that differs between you, it’s OK!! We don’t all have to be the same or think alike, God made us all different for a reason!!

can you say HOT??

Last week I was feeding 65 people at every meal here at Fort Faith.  AND IT WAS HOT!!!!  AND HUMID!!!! This week I am not the head cook,  but I have been helping out for lunch and dinner meals.  It isn’t quite as hot as last week and not nearly as humid.  I’m glad for that, for the kitchen workers this week.  I want them to enjoy their week so that they will want to do it again next year.  BECAUSE.I.AM.LAZY. people!!! =)

Next week, the camp director and his family are going on a short vacation as we don’t have  camp booked that week.  I think they are going to Petoskey or something cool like that.  Buster and I will not be going as we cannot afford it.  But we will be taking a break from all our normal duties, rest assured!! We will probably spend some time with family as we don’t normally have a lot of time to do so this time of year.  It will be nice.

Open Mouth Insert Foot…

Open mouth, insert foot.  That is the phrase used when you say something stupid or offensive to someone without really intending to.  I have done it often.  It’s a gift I possess, actually.  That and very little patience.  Sometimes I think God must have a really great sense of humor when it comes to how he makes people!!

The time I am thinking of at the moment is when I told my daughter not to hold hands with a friend of hers because she has eczema, which I thought, at the time, was highly contagious. This hurt pumpkin_seeds friend’s feelings, which was not my intention.

I was unaware, at the time, that eczema, more often than not, is simply an allergic reaction and is not at all contagious.  It can be easily treated like any other allergy or often can be treated with creams or ointments.  I guess I should do my homework on things before I offend people by opening my mouth and shoving my foot in up to the ankle!!!

Bathrooms and things….

Buster and I recently had to buy some new bathroom fixtures because the ones here broke.  I am a huge fan of metals in bathrooms as opposed to wood.  I just like the look.  I enjoy brushed nickel the most, I think.

However, since the fixtures we just bought were chrome, that will most likely be what we will look for in a Hansgrohe faucet.  I love the new modern looks that are out right now! Sleek, modern and functional.  I can’t wait to get some money and make my choice!!

Happy Fourth Of July!!!

aaaahhhhh…..

Jr. camp camp left Thursday after breakfast.  we cleaned.  got probably 90% of what we had to do done.  then a group of guys came in on Friday to make a homemade movie at the camp for their camp coming up the end of the month.  now we have to go clean AGAIN!!  i don’t think they used a couple buildings, so we shouldn’t have to re-do them.  HOPEFULLY!!!!  same church groups are coming in on Monday for Jr. high/Sr. high camp.  they stay through Saturday morning.  BUT, the week after that, i don’t think anyone is coming!!

so this morning i am sitting here writing and relaxing because i am SURE we are going to have to do some cleaning later!!  in fact, i think buster is up at camp as i type surveying the “damage”.  tomorrow, we are having a special July 4th service and potluck at church…anyone in the big rapids area is more than welcome to come help us celebrate!!! we are at Bible Baptist Church….15398 220th Ave, Big Rapids MI 49307.  Sunday School at 10 AM, Morning Service at 11 AM, POTLUCK at noon, Evening Service at 2 PM.  this is  our schedule every week, but this weeks message and meal is themed for the holiday!

Happy Fourth of July to everyone.  Please remember, freedom is not FREE, someone had to pay the price.  soldiers paid the price for our country…Jesus paid the price for our sins!!! Have a safe and blessed weekend!!
