Back to the aging thing….

Posted on January 20, 2010

OK, so back to the aging dilemma I am having…I am about ready to haul out the heavy artillery on this one….You know, the wrinkle treatment.  OK, OK, so I am not that old, YET.  But there will come a day when I will be and I am going to fight it tooth and nail!!!  No reason not to, if you ask me, within reason, that is.  No surgical treatments for me, mmk, thnx!

Getting Older….

Posted on January 19, 2010

The older my hubby gets (he’s only 38), the more he complains of joint pain. Of course, it doesn’t help that he does not limit the weight he lifts and carries, or how far he bends or stoops.  So, it’s a wonder he’s not in pain all the time!! Tylenol and Motrin seem to work for his pain, but I just wonder how long it will be til he needs something more potent or something that will prevent him from having the pain in the first place….

As most of you know, my hubby and I live and work full-time at a Christian camp.  We have several youth summer camps, but also cater to adult retreats and winter camps, as well.  Well, the camp director’s wife has a “part time” job with the USPS, but as recently been working full-time as her boss is dying of cancer.  So, I have been cooking meals for her so that she has less to worry about in the evenings when she finally gets home from work.  Simple, but yummy meals.  Last night we had Sloppy Joe sandwiches, Tater Tots and carrot sticks with Ranch dressing.  Oh, and cookies for dessert!!  Here is how I make Sloppy Joe sandwiches for 8!!

Sloppy Joe  Sandwiches

What you need:

  • 3 lbs ground beef
  • 16 “hamburger” buns
  • shredded cheese or sliced, whichever you prefer, if any
  • 2 small cans Slo ppy Joe mix,  I used “Manwich” brand
  • brown sugar to add to Sloppy Joe mix to sweeten just a bit (that’s how we like it, you can omit this)
  • mustard, ketchup, bbq sauce, whatever, if anything you put on your bun to serve

What to do:

  • brown you r ground beef til no longer pink, drain excess fat
  • Stir in Sloppy Joe mix
  • add brown sugar to taste
  • prepare buns with cheese and or mustard, ketchup, etc.
  • serve with carrots and dip, tater tots, chips or whatever you like!!

Starting to look my age…OH NO!!

Posted on January 18, 2010

No matter how  much I hate to admit it, I am getting older.  It used to be people thought I looked a lot younger than my age, no people are guessing closer and closer!! Ugh.  When I was 25, people thought I looked 15.  When I was 30, people thought I looked 20.  Now that I am 34, people think I look 28-30….still younger, but not young enough!! LOL  I have started using a day cream and a night serum around my eyes to reduce puffiness and crows feet, but I am afraid I am losing the battle and starting to look my age!!! AAAhhhh!!

Ah, Youth….

Posted on January 16, 2010

My poor little girl!!  Now that she is a teen, she is starting to get acne.  It only seems to be on her nose, though , which seems to always be oily, so I am constantly telling her  to wash her face better!!  I think she just gets excess oil built up there and it causes her to break out.   I am considering getting her some kind of special soap or face wash. But, there are so many different causes of acne, it’s hard to know what the  best acne products are for you.  Anyone have a product that works good for you???

Thanks, in advance for any suggestions!! Be Blessed….

What to get HIM?!?!?

Posted on January 15, 2010

What do you get the man you love when he basically has everything?  I don’t mean EVERYTHING, but I think you know what I mean.  I don’t wanna be one of those wives who just gets her hubby what she wants to get.  I want to get him something he would want.  A new tool belt?  A new tool?  A Nascar jacket?  Money towards the camera he wants (cause Lord knows I can’t fork out that kind of dough).  What do you think?

Heaven IS a Wonderful Place!!

Posted on January 08, 2010

If you could have God’s promise that YOU would go right to HEAVEN when you die, would you take it??

Let me show YOU how YOU can have This Promise!!

ALL HAVE SINNED

ROMANS 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one.

ROMANS 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.

GOD’S PRICE ON SIN

ROMANS 6:23 A For the wages of sin is death.

THERE ARE TWO DEATHS

REVELATION 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

OUR WAY OUT

ROMANS 5:8-9 But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

GOD’S PERSONAL PROMISE

ROMANS 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Take God at his word and claim His promise for your salvation. Bow you head right now and sincerely ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and to save your soul. Saying a prayer does not save you!! You must believe what the Bible says and mean it in your heart to be saved!!!

ROMANS 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture sayeth, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.

Once you are eternally saved, you are always eternally saved…

HEBREWS 13:5B…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

If you have read this and accepted Christ as your personal Savior, CONGRATULATIONS on getting that taken care of, you’ll be so glad you did!! Please leave your name in a comment so that I can pray for you !!! And also find yourself a good, Bible (King James) preaching Church where you can grow in your faith!!

God Bless!!

If you don’t need this message, but know someone who does, feel free to link them to this or just tell them about the blog post!! It is important that every person get this taken care BEFORE it is too late. We often think we have all the time in the world, what’s the rush?? My son was killed in an auto-accident five years ago (November 5, 2004) at the age of 10 (He asked the Lord to be his Savior when he was 7)!! We have no guarantee of how long we have on this earth, we need to spread the word!!

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

Not Here Much….

Yes, I realize I have been kind of scarce lately…I have been super busy with camp and Holiday functions and not feeling well off and on.  I will be back, I promise and in full-force!!  I have missed you all and look forward to seeing you all again very soon!! Til then,  God Bless!!

Extra Security??

Posted on January 04, 2010

Since Buster and I live out in the middle of no where on a “no outlet” road, I don’t think we need to worry about such things as wireless security systems.  I never really thought we had a need for one anyway, though.  We locked our doors and night and slept with a loaded gun under the mattress….who needs more security than that.  Settle down, settle down, I was kidding…..or was I????
