Thanksgiving Update!!
- by Jo
We had a wonderful day!! I had the in-laws over for Thanksgiving Dinner this year. It was hubby’s Mom and Dad, His Sister (and her hubby) and their kids. We didn’t eat til 6:30 cause hubby’s sister and her hubby had another dinner to go to earlier in the afternoon. So they all came over later and we had dinner together. We had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes complete with marshmallows, pickles, olives, rolls, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. What a feast. Everything turned out really good, too!!
I should have taken a picture to share, but I didn’t. **sigh** And after we prayed, I had everyone give two things they were thankful for. We gave thanks for our homes, our salvation, food, clothes, family, grand kids, jobs, kids, and being able to get together for dinner!! There may have been other things, but I can’t remember. We had a great time…what did you do?? Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!! Please…Share what you did in the comments!!

Mocha Club…
- by Jo
I know…the name is divine all in itself. But this club is about so much more than coffee!!! I am so excited to be a part of this! I have a friend who is very passionate about this, but If you are new to the ways of MC, like I am, this is how they roll~~
Mocha Club is a community-based website where members can start a team and invite friends to join them in giving $7 a month – the cost of 2 mocha’s (thus the name) - to support a project in Africa. Mocha Club has a vision, and that vision is to make it possible for everyday people, like you and I, who don’t have hundreds or thousands of dollars, to make a difference in Africa.
My friend posted a little bit ago about the Mocha Club and this campaign they were starting called “I NEED AFRICA MORE THAN AFRICA NEEDS ME”, and wanted to know if anyone would be interested in “helping” get the word out about this great cause. I am so glad I took the time to get in touch with them and get involved in this campaign!!
So, then I had to think about if I really do need Africa, more than it needs me, and I’m starting to realize that I do!!!
I need Africa because God has been calling me to do something wonderful in the life of someone else, with no thought of gain for myself.
I need Africa because giving is always better than receiving.
I need Africa because even though they are thousands of miles away, WE can be part of making their lives better!!
I need Africa to remind me that even though I complain about what I don’t have far too much, I have much much more than I will ever deserve!!
Do you need Africa?? Please be in prayer about this cause. Think about how much just a little time and money could help!!
Come on back December 1st, when I’ll tell you what you can do to take part in this!!
God Bless!
Making a Happy Home Monday…
- by Jo
OK, so this is my very first Making a Happy Home post!! I came across this “carnival” when i was visiting links on other blogs. I have been wanting to get some things done around the house and what better motivation that being able to share my projects with all of you!!!
So my first project was this…
I was a little embarrassed to even post this picture, it’s really bad! This are the book shelves that were in the room we were using as a computer room/den/office. In the process of getting this disaster cleaned up, hubby and I decided to switch our bedroom and the den (the den, we discovered, is about a foot bigger in each direction that the bedroom!!). So this room is now my bedroom and this is what that wall looks like now…
And the bookshelves got moved into what is now the den. And this is what they look like now…
Not bad, huh? Now it’s not completely done yet, but we don’t have much more to do!! I have a few other projects I’m working on too. But those will have to wait for another Making a Happy Home Monday, make sure you come back to see what I’ve got going on!!! what i believe…
- by Jo
posted a comment on a friend’s blog about this today and wanted to share a snippet of it here…
i can only speak for me and me alone. i am a CHRISTIAN. i am proud of that fact. i am a sinner, saved by grace!! that is the only reason i am on my way to heaven. the grace of God. i quote…In that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us… i believe the King James Bible is the Word of God. i believe that we should tithe to our local Church. i believe a Christian should be baptized as an act of faith, showing others that they are saved, but that is not what gets them to heaven. i believe that if the Church doors are open, you should be there. some of these things i was taught as a child some I have learned as an adult. i think we should do things because God convicts us about them, not because someone else believes it to be true. i feel it’s important for a Christian to read their Bible and decide for themselves what they believe and how they should live their lives, according to what God says. these are just some things I.BELIEVE. i make no apologies for it, and i don’t expect everyone to agree with me. i’m not saying you are right or i am right, this is what I.BELIEVE. anyone who reads this can form their own opinion about what they believe to be true and i will not be offended by that, nor will i think i’m better than you or you than me. you are entitled to your opinion as am i.
