Today was the big day. Pumpkin_seed wore her costume to school. She had a fun time with her classmates. They made butter, made a candle, painted with berries, grass and mud. They made paper mache pumpkins. Not only that, but they ate squash soup, peanut butter fudge and pickle wraps. She had a good time!! Tonight we will go the “Trunk Or Treat” downtown. That is where a bunch of people get together in one spot with candy in their car trunks and the kids go car to car instead of house to house. We have had a couple attempted kidnappings recently and they figure this will be safer???

Friday, October 31st, 2008For Better Or For Worse…
Thursday, October 30th, 2008These were taken October 30, 1993. The day I said “I do”. For better or for worse… Thankfully, it has only gotten better!! I am blessed to be married to the greatest man in the world!!! He is a hard worker. He loves the Lord and he is a wonderful father!!! I am more in love with him now than I have ever been. Next to my salvation, he is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
OUR WEDDING DAY: October 30, 1993
The first one is of me just before the wedding. The second is at the reception. I had to hold my dress up cause Buster kept stepping on it and breaking the beads!!
One of My Favorite Crock Pot Recipes
Thursday, October 30th, 2008
happily brought to you in cooperation with Sophie
This recipe is so easy, you won’t believe it!!! It can be doubled if you are feeding more people, but if you double it, you may need to extend cooking time. BUT DO NOT OVERCOOK!! Check it after 4 hours!!
Saucy Apricot Chicken
4-6 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
2 (12 oz) jars apricot preserves
1 envelope onion soup mix (I use Lipton)
hot rice
Season chicken breasts and place them in crock pot. Mix soup mix and preserves together, spread over chicken breasts. Cook on low 4-5 hours or until chicken is done. Serve over hot rice.
Mom, It’s not a Halloween Party (for WW)
Wednesday, October 29th, 2008This post brought to you in cooperation with Wordful Wednesday over at
Angie’s place…
My pumpkin_seed ( H has decided that is what she wants her knick name to be from now on, where does she come up with this stuff??) goes to a Christian school where they don’t celebrate “Halloween”. They have Harvest Festival or Pioneer Days or something equally non-”Halloween”. They do, however, get to dress up. This year pumpkin_seed and her friend K. decided they would dress up as Queens. K’s grandmother brought the girls dresses from up north, where she lives. I guess she got them for free somewhere and wanted the girls to have them for dress up or whatever.
Well, K. decided to take the smallest of the two (even thought she’s the biggest of the girls) AND the nicest one. Oh well, it was her grandmother who got them. So anyway, pumpkin_seeds was a size misses 12. She is a size 7/8 GIRLS. So SHE (her teacher wants all their costumes to be a work of their own with as little help as possible) had to take it in several inches on each side. Then she decided the pearls and sequins were not enough just on the bodice so she added some to the tulle skirt as well. She also added a button to the middle of the top of the bodice.
She then proceeded to tell me she needed a sceptre. A sceptre. She’s 12, where does she come up with this stuff?? Anyway, pumpkin_seed and K decided they would “make ” sceptres from sticks. So they went out into the back yard and found sticks. They painted and decorated them as best they could. This is what my daughter ended up with….
not too shabby for a 12 year old, heh? btw..is anyone else jealous she can fit into this teeny thing she made??? I’m juss sayin’…

Blue Monday

Hosted by: SmilingSally
I have had this little gem for I don’t know how long. Probably since I got married. Don’t remember when or where I got it, but I love it!! It looks great sitting on my kitchen counter and it is the perfect size to put tooth picks in, as you can see. I leave in sitting on my kitchen counter so it’s easy to get toothpicks when we need them!!

UPDATE!!! H’s Party!!
Saturday, October 25th, 2008H’s Birthday Bash went off without a hitch!! Some of the people we invited couldn’t make it because we planned it so spur of the moment, but we had a few people here to share her special day!! We didn’t do anything extravagant or anything. We just had sloppy Joe’s, fresh veggies and dip, chips, cake and ice cream. Everyone got full and had fun!! I made peanut butter fudge, but forgot to take it out
Oh well. Everyone enjoyed themselves without it!! Some highlights from her party…
Happy Birthday to My Darling H
Friday, October 24th, 2008
I am the proud Mama of a 12 year-old!!!! I can’t believe it’s been that long!! She has grown up so fast!! I couldn’t be more proud of the “little lady” she is becoming!! She is still scrawny, but she is getting taller!! She’ll be taller than me in no time (course, that doesn’t take much, but….). I love her so much, I can’t put it into words, but I wanted to tel her something today…I’ll let her read this later….
To my darling 12 year old. I fell in love with you when I was three months pregnant with you. I hadn’t even laid eyes on you yet. Didn’t even know for sure if you were a girl or a boy. But I had a feeling you were a girl. MY girl. I thought of all the things we would do together. How I would braid your hair and teach you how to sit, talk, and act like a lady. I thought about dressing you up in ribbons and ruffles, all in pink, how we would have tea parties with your dolls and stuffed animals. How someday you would go to school and how proud I would be, and I was.
I thought about how you would eventually like boys and what I would tell you when you did. Well, things have changed a lot since then and you do like boys!! Well, just one that I know of. I know you smile whenever you say his name and I know are excited to think that he might like you, too. You have the rest of your life to enjoy these things, please don’t be in a hurry to grow up. You only get to be a child once and only for a short time. I know it seems like it takes for ever to be a grown up and there are rules and chores and school and it seems like a lot, but you wait, one day you will wish for the days when you were a kid!! Just remember, my sweet girl, if he’s right for you it will happen in God’s time.
Remember that you can always talk to me about anything no matter what!! I will always be your biggest fan and nothing you could say or do will ever change that. Please remember that Daddy and I make rules to keep you safe from harm and to keep you happy in the long run. Remember your purity (mind, body and soul) should be held close and dear to you. Besides your salvation it is your most treasured “possession” at this point in your life. Keep It!! Now , go out there with God’s grace and show the world what you’re made of!! I love you today, tomorrow, and always!!! Happy Birthday sweety, Hugs and Prayers… Love Mommy…
